Question Yahoo question

I really don't know what to do here. Every time I go & get into my Yahoo e-mail (which I've had for years & never had a problem), I'm getting a virus warning from my Kaspersky Internet Security. It happened again this morning. That's four times. It's blocked it every time, but apparently when I checked my Yahoo e-mail @ work, their virus blocker didn't work, & I wound up with a rootkit on my work computer. My husband got into his Yahoo e-mail yesterday & didn't have any problem. I don't understand it & I don't know what to do.

Does anyone else who has a Yahoo account have any problems like this?

I don't use yahoo I have hotmail but I too had the rootkit virus last month. It arrives through the e mail sites. Even after it was removed(@$180.00) it kept trying to re enter but luckily this time my Norton antivirus blocked it. The virus made several attempts to re enter. Luckily it finally gave up on me. (That's probably why it's going after you now).

Rootkit allows you to continue using your computer but it will make everything slower and slower until it won't run at all. I don't think you will lose any files though. At least I didn't.

Good luck Lee.

Yahoo is like my main e-mail. Sure I have a few other ones, but none that I can log into from anywhere.

I had a rootkit on my home computer maybe a year ago. I couldn't get it off (McAfee didn't block it & I got rid of them.) & I had to take it somewhere for an expert to remove it. It cost $100 to remove it, but was worth it to me. That one I think I got goggling something. So now I'm always careful when I google, but thenI get it through e-mail.

Oh, someone @ my work tried to get the rootkit off; I think he made it worse as in I may have lost all my files on it. I had a picture of Stevie on it as the background, but the screen went black! I was really upset. They took it out & took it to the main office for their tech guy to look @ it. In the meantime, I got a back-up computer, which has the bare bones on it that I need to work. I don't even get on the Internet there; I'm that scared.

I just logged onto my Yahoo email account, for the first time in at least a year, and had no problems, or warnings.

Good luck with yours. My desktop computer is so bad, and sluggish. I almost never get up from it, without running a virus program, or Ad Aware, or something. Basically it's fukced. It can't update anything(it tries, but fails, everytime). So I'm just nursing it along.... It NEEDS reformatted with W7. The only reason I haven't, is that I have about 50 movies on the hard drive, that I'd like to burn backup copies of, but the DVD writer has died in it.....so I need to buy a new DVD burner and install it, burn the movies, THEN have my friend reformat it.

I keep three Yahoo email accounts, & no problem with that on any of them.

Well, the rootkit destroyed my work computer. I lost some files on there. They are in the process on cleaning my hard drive & putting back on the company stuff. It just makes me sick. Some pictures were on there. The last picture I saw was my background picture of Stevie from DWTS.

I kept out of Yahoo for several days, changed my password & went back in from my home computer. Haven't had any problems since. No more checking Yahoo e-mail at work anymore. I thank my lucky stars that I got rid of McAfee & got Kaspersky. It saved my home computer.

Why do people have to be so cruel & have nothing else better to do than to destroy other people's computers with all these viruses, trojans & rootkits?

There was a store about the Yahoo hack on the radio news this morning.I did not hear the full story.I use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware,Emsisoft Anti-Malware,SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition to clean my computers every weekend.I do have Yahoo email too.so far I'm ok with it.On problem is these upload sites like Mediafire,Sendspace have all of those annoying popup ad's that lock up the computer at times. When I was downloading the live Stevie shows last weekend from Medifire I was getting bombarded with those ad's from China ON TV ,and other crap.

I just read about this here:

http://technolog.msnbc.msn.com/_news...ets-in-attacks

My brother tried to tell me that it was from me surfing the web. And I told him that I only got a virus/trojan alert when I was in my Yahoo e-mail. My Yahoo account was hacked into. I truly believe this. And it destroyed my work computer!
