I think I'm also over my stevie hangover finally and I too, did not drink. In fact, I seem to not be as social at Stevie concerts because I don't want to miss a single thing lol.
Anyway, with all the wonderful - and deservedly so - reviews, I want so much for her to tour behind this album that I want to at least get a head start at opportunities to fine tune the show. Why? Because I want her to get the recognition and appreciation she so much deserves beyond her dedicated fan base. I plan to bring as many friends that are casual fans to this tour (if there is one) in hopes of they experience the gift that Stevie really is. So please keep in mind that although I am being critical here (I direct shows myself), my goal is only to help maximize her affect and am in no way criticizing her. Stand Back - Love her new phrasing on "I would" - keep it. Do not think the lowered notes on the second "Stand Back" in the chorus are appropriate. The energy needs to stay in the upper register. Always love her spins. I miss the shawl. It is too identified with it and it creates a visual stimulus that makes people happy in connecting with the video to the song and shows off her ballet training. If her voice isn't hurting, keep the "why don't you take me HOME" in the upper register as well. Lastly, I know she loves Sharon and Lori and they are indeed wonderful but the best ending to Stand Back was when Eliscia Wright (I think that's her name) was there - she had this powerful Patti LaBelle type voice that made those "Well you could be standing in" and "stand back"'s so piercing, there was no other choice but to be electrified. Pure bliss. Annabel Lee - Not taking anything away from the greatness of last night but it could be improved. No need to defend Stevie - remember am not judging her - becauseI know she was nervous. But I believe the sound people for all of her shows need to pay attention to something that seems to be missed. First of all, Stevie's voice was fantastic but if you listen very closely, you can tell she was still slightly rough from either her illness and/or rehearsal fatigue and got slightly pitchy. When this happens, Stevie's tendency is to compensate by backing off the mic. And although that then takes away from some of the power of the song, I can understand that. However, there are times when her voice is not hurting or the notes are very comfortable for her and she is singing into the mic fine but the mix of the instruments drown her out a bit and destroys the power of that moment in her singing. Adjustments should be made constantly - not just with Stevie's voice but in terms of mixing the sound (see notes on Moonlight). The end of Annabel Lee was great but it could have been out of this world and that's what I want all naysayers to hear at future concerts. They need to hear the end of this song as it was meant to be. Dreams - loved. I miss the transition from Outside The Rain but no complaints about this song and I love the nuances she puts in the vocal delivery on the word "go" - They will come and they will "goooooo" Sorcerer/Moonlight/Gold Dust Woman - In terms of sound - these songs (and others) suffer from what I believe are mixing errors. Someone already said in their review that for some reason they didn't think the choruses of Moonlight were as powerful as they are on the album. I completely agree 100% with this comment. Both songs have verses that are on a certain emotional frequency for lack of a better expression and then explode. But there wasn't last night. To focus more on how Moonlight could be even more epic. Have all the lights off except a little shadow on Stevie and use a lighting gobo if you need to of the "moon" for the first verse. Then the chorus should be a blast of white light on "strange" and become almost strobe-like (but I don't actually mean use a strobe) but to accentuate the running and hurried emotional nature of this part and let the lights get gradually less and less until you are left with that inital moon shadow on Stevie to bring it back for the second verse. If you see what I mean, the lighting can be an amazing tool to add to the emotion she wants us to feel as she is singing. So the sound mix should of course have the verses soft and delicate and then the chorus should jolt us - but the power was not there. Specifically to Sorcerer- she seemed to have more confidence and power in her singing and this is the most enjoyable performance of that song I remember. Specifically to Gold Dust Woman, if they could get that mix right, it could become almost a religious experience just in that song. Ghosts Are Gone and Soldier's Angel - flawless In Your Dreams - not my fave but this such a solid show that this isn't a negative thing towards this song. I do think different lighting could help Rhiannon - the end where she is chanting "all the same" - I think there can be some new discoveries made with key changes that could return the power in her vocals at the end. She does like to play it safe and I understand she needs to preserve her voice but I still think they can explore some creative ways to do something there. And she is already thinking like this when she has made adjustments to her Gold Dust Woman ending growl, and something new she does in Edge. Lastly, like Moonlight, I think the lighting at the end with "all the same" could be as epic as anything. For What It's Worth - Love the song. Enjoyed it live. But, only in my personal opinion, do I think the "feel" of the song live is not inline with the mood of the cd. It's much more intimate, to me. not sure what I would do but it is a different feel I got last night. Secret Love - I love this song both on cd and live. - Something that could be added I can't really explain but will try when I discuss Fall From Grace... ...Fall From Grace - I wrote this in the other thread already but this song went from a song I enjoyed to an OMFG moment last night. It is like I didn't get it all these years and Stevie patiently waited for me to catch up and thus kept it in her set. Something(s) about the version last night is different. I know one thing - the part after "walk out that door" when it's just music. Maybe I freed my mind more but it was like I was orbiting during that piece of music. Makes you feel like you're in space. Then another thing is right after that when she comes back in singing the drums are so much more pronounced than before. And it was like don't you dare not listen to me right now moment. So the drums prevented me from being disinterested at the very time I have disengaged with the song in tours past. Like I said, I can't explain it well but the point is that this song has all the power and is in no way a snooze anymore. Well whatever that phenomenon is and whatever they did to that song - that is what Secret Love could use. Love the song but something in some are of it is hollow. Cheaper Than Free - voice was slightly tired here. Slightly tho. I presume this is where Landslide will go unless she tours with Dave Stewart which I could then see this staying in the set. Edge of Seventeen- fantastic. She does something new that she did on the Heart and Soul Tour. I think it's at the end (but would love to see a video of last night's show) but she sings "I know what it sounds like when doves cry" or whatever lyric she is doing at that moment. Maybe it's the "somewhere deep in the middle of the night" part but until I see the video, I can't be for certain. But what she extends her final note and it morphs into another growl - this same modulation? is what used to happen live with Gold Dust Woman where she starts the end note as singing but morphs into a wail. It's new to Edge of 17, however, and it's awesome. And her dancing at the end and headbanging and pivots with bobbing her hair up and down is awesome. Love Is - Don't change a thing Stevie - OMG. However, maybe move it up in the set and end with Italian Summer or Has Anyone... ![]() My only desire is to be able to experience New Orleans live like these other songs got the chance to. |

I wish I was there I do have a feeling Stevie will not tour here in on this album I hope I am wrong get that impression I would think by now we would see tour dates going into June no dates yet so probably not my guess so glad people filmed the night so we can hear the new songs live was wondering did she have it proffesionally filmed maybe for a dvd? would have been awesome. I think I am concerted out if she does tour I will be at the show if she comes to Connecticut or NYC or Boston. Stevie would be my only concert to go see FM and Lindsey if he comes around would be cool to see Lindsey and Stevie do a Buckingham Nicks tour and do solo sets and then a set together 3 hour show would be awesome.

Everyone RELAX!!!!! I'm sure shes's going to tour this album!!!! What a bunch of crap to say she might not. She have NEVER NOT TOURED an album except for Bella Donna which was a huge mistake. Ok, let her go to London on my Birthday and when she gets back after the 26th, you'll start seeing tour dates. I promise!
