Default Anyone Ever Been To Cedar Key, Florida

Hey all,

Potentially trying to plan a trip for my mom and I. Anyone here ever been to Cedar Key, Florida? Initial glances look like it'd be a nice place!

All I know about the Keys is just from passing through there a few months back on the way to visit Key West. To me it is very beautiful but seemed very different from life on the mainland Florida. You would really have to enjoy being out in the middle of nowhere on small islands and love that kind of life if you chose to live there, but I'm sure it's fine for just visiting as tourists. Driving back through in the wee hours of the night (luckily I was with my brother and sil) it seemed ghost townish really on some of those upper keys and everything so dead still with nothing but one road going through and open night sky with a gazillion night stars above you which was unreal and so pretty. If no ones ever made it down there to the Keys, it's quite a beautiful and different experience from anything you might have seen. I loved it. I am going back soon. I loved Miami too!

^ Cedar Key isn't in the Keys... it's north of Tampa. Looks like it's in a sort of river delta where the water looks pretty murky.

Oh I just assumed he was talking of the keys... I haven't been anywhere above Sarasota so far this year but from watching the news cams, Clearwater to St. Petes looking more beautiful than ever with pristine emerald colored waters, much much better than what it looked all last year. It was pretty murky up around there and I was so disappointed from what Clearwater used to be. But the Gulf all along this side of Florida is looking unreal this year with clear emerald-to-blue waters from the local area news tower cams. I can't wait to get out and about all this Summer.

Did anyone see the episode of Man vs. Food in Sarasota recently? I had watched the other night. He had visited local eateries and was at The Old Salty Dog on the water in Sarasota. Man, that water looked awesome, and I live here and still get excited seeing it on tv lol. I have yet to eat at Yoders Amish restaurant either. Looks like some good cooking to me.
