Exactly! She has promoted Landslide to DEATH!!!!!!! A few weeks ago on twitter people were commenting that if they heard that song again, they were going to throw up. She needs to promote herself. Leather and Lace is a single that she get to gold status. Has Anyone Ever Written is great and would help her sell her solo career. She is in solo career mode. Quit selling Fleetwood Mac. She's becoming a one trick pony. The sad thing is she has good material off this album that some people will never know is even on the album.

I think her problem is confidence. Stevie is a comfort person. Landslide for her, is like curling up w/ a good book and a cup of chai ! She knows the song inside and out and prob. wouldn't screw it up on live t.v. I think to her, it's the most sensible thing to do. For us, it's getting boring. I love the song, don't get me wrong. However, this horse has been beat to a pulp. I really think she's afraid to do anything different. Your average fan or listener, expects to hear Landslide. Why not throw them for a loop, and sing something beautiful like HAYWAFY ? That's my answer. You would think after all these years of success and performing and all the people that just adore her, she would have all the confidence in the world in her self but i don't think she does ! It's kind of sad because artistry is all about taking chances but to her it's almost like jumping off a cliff !

I read she will be performing two songs so my guess would be Secret Love and a classic my guess Standback or Landslide. would be cool if she did Love Is or HAEWAFY.

I'm not mad at all that she's doing 'landslide' and 'secret love'. 'Landslide' is a classic! Everyone and their mama knows that song! Besides with all the new 'glee' buzz it will remind folks to go buy that album, the white album, rumours, bd, so on and so forth......this equals $$$$!!!!

'Secret love' is perfect because not only is it her new single, but it's easy to sing!!! Hellooooooooo she was just sick! That just makes sense if ya ask me. 'Italian summer' has some notes that she may not be able to hit right now! She'll rock SL of course!

Any promotion is an excellent and much needed thing right now!!!!

Oh and HOW'S THAT FOR THE 'QUEEN OF THE ONELINER'!?

She's done Secret Love on Oprah, Ellen and across the US with Rod Stewart. The song was released back in March (?) or even sooner. I don't recall. My point is we've all heard it and love it but it's reached it's peak. It's been on the charts for a while now. It's done. It's a wonderful song but it's time for a SECOND single to gain some exposure. That's how you sell records in this day and age, if you're lucky. Gone are the days of waiting months to release a new single. That's why artists now release singles in rapid fire or even simulatenously to keep people's interest. Radio isn't exactly playing Stevie's new stuff on a regular basis so she needs to look for other avenues for promotion.IYD is an exceptional album. There are many wonderful songs on it that need to be heart by people who have not bought the album yet. Being that it just dropped last week, DWTS is a prime opportunity to play a new song and keep the interest and the momentum going. Playing Secret Love and Landslide (ugh) will do nothing to promote this record or Stevie's career.

We'll shall see........

It would be cool if she did her new single, but since she was sick, she's gotta do what she can. I mean damn.......who wants to hear the new single if it's not gonna be the best cause she can't hit the notes? Maybe I'm not making any sense......but I think I am lol!

I totally agree your comments regarding a new single. Yes she needs to move on and release and promote the next single. SL has fallen off the AA chart and is dying on the AC chart.

However, regarding Landslide, she needs to perform the one song that has the greatest audience recongnition for all generations, which is Landslide. After they hear Landslide, she will perform SL. That makes for good marketing sense.

Trust me, I'm so tired of seeing her perform Landslide, but then again, I would not consider myself a casual fan. I like so many other hardcore Stevie fans seek her performances out. Most people don't.

Regarding the over-exposed song Landslide: the problem is that Stevie has never written another song in that vein that has acheived universal accessiblity and acceptance.

You would hope that in the 37 years since she wrote that song, that she would have written another song like Landslide: one that would have the same qualities and appeal. But sadly, that song was a fluke of sorts.

The only song I hear that has some of those qualities is "For What It's Worth." My only irk with that song title is there is another well-established song with that same title: Buffalo Springfield's hit song written and sung by Steven Stills. Given that Stevie is familiar with late 1960's music, I wonder if it ever crossed her mind.

Technically she did not do Secret Love on Oprah. It was not broadcast on the show, but put on the Oprah site later. I bet only a fraction of the TV viewers logged on to watch the Secret Love performance in the internet. So really the only nationally broadcast of Stevie performing the song was on Ellen.

Dancing was the number one rated program last week. That audience will give her and the song much, much greater exposure than the Ellen show performance for sure.
