I rarely post, but have to on this one. Its a great little story and probably the best moment of my life....
I have seen FM/Stevie 5 times. 1) FM - Dance - Memphis, TN: This is where I got hooked, my life will never be the same. 2) Stevie - Enchanted - Birmingham, AL: My friend and I ran into the band including Mindy and Sharon at a restaurant, actually we were walking by and saw them in the window and decided to go in. We ended up sending them a bottle of wine like the total goobers that we were....I was 19 at the time. Frank Simes took a liking to me...he ended up coming to our hotel room and hanging out and drinking beer, telling us stories showing us magic tricks etc... My naive little self couldn't figure out while in the hell Stevie's guitar player wanted to hang out with us. The rest of the band had gone to the movies. He was very nice, but it was a little odd. And no, he never made a move or anything like that...He ended up giving all of us backstage passes and 2nd row seats though. SO we got backstage and hung out with the band before the concert. They gave us food (BBQ) and drinks we got to chat with Sharon alot. It was surreal... 3) Stevie - Enchanted - Nashville, TN: Well after Birmingham, I kept in touch with Frank. He actually called my house one day, my dad wasnt too thrilled, but he got us backstage again and 1st row seats. This is my favorite part. I dont know if anyone else was at this show, but when it became time to dedicate Landslide to someone Stevie said something like...We usually dedicate this song to someone who we know and love, but since we dont know anyone we are just going to dedicate it to someone we love...and she sent Frank into the audience and he came right to me and acted like he didnt know me and asked me my name and went back to tell Stevie. Then the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me....Stevie said "I would like to dedicate this to Anna" (thats me) and after the song she said thank you Anna and everyone....I almost shat my pants. I got the bootleg off the internet and I listen to it all the time just for a smile. 4) Stevie - Enchanted - Nashville, TN: I actually stayed in touch with Frank for a while and then we lost touch. In 2000 I was at a Don Henley concert and low and behold Frank Simes was playing. I went up to him near the end of the show and he recognized me. We got back in touch and I was really hoping the he would be playing with Stevie for this tour. He was going to but then at the last minute he got "dumped". I think there was some disagreement....he was pissed. So I didnt get very good seats, but made it up front again. 5) FM - SYW - Nashville: I just got back last night and I am still stunned. It was unbelievable. I went with my brother and my uncle (we didnt have great seats). My Uncle who likes FM, not a huge fan, but loves music in general has been to tons of concerts over the years (including the Eagles, ROlling Stones etc.) said that it was the best Rock n' roll concert he has EVER been too. He wants a picture of Lindsey playing guitar to put in his house. He was amazed. I really hope the rumors are true and they come to Memphis...the Pyramid is 1/2 a mile from my house. I will get good seats hopefully this time.... |

This tour will be my first Mac concert, at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn...it just opened this summer so here's hoping it's great!
As for previous Stevie concerts: Enchanted 1998: The Gorge, WA...always a great place for a show. My first Stevie concert, so it was AMAZING. There was a full moon and it all seemed very meant to be. The crowd was alright but not as enthusiastic as I would have hoped. Sometimes I think fans in the Northwest are just too laidback ...I lived in Boston for 4 years while in college and generally speaking, concert goers there always seemed more into the shows. AHI Benefit 2000: America West Arena, Phoenix. At the time, I didn't know if I would ever see the Mac, figured I wouldn't, so I flew from Boston to Phoenix and met my best friend for the show so I could see Stevie and Lindsey together. As of today, this is the best concert I've ever been to. The crowd really made a difference, that show is so special because it's hardcore fans from all over the country plus Stevie's hometown, makes for a great night. TISL 2001: Key Arena, Seattle. Key Arena is a good venue, but this show just didn't do it for me. Stevie's new stuff was good but on everything else she just seemed to be going through the motions. Part of this might have been the disappointing crowd though, the second floor of the arena was covered because they didn't sell near enough tickets. Still, decent show. Can't wait for July 26th!!! White River Amphitheater, Auburn, WA: no better way to christen a new venue than with a visit from the MAC!!! ERIN |
