Default Everyone who bought tickets previously should get special treatment

It's not easy to get a ticket for any show anymore (without getting ripped off by places like friggin' Stubhub), so the publicists and the record company and the friggin' fan club (which, why did we give them our info in the first place) should make 100% sure that ANYONE who made the effort to get tickets to Webster Hall or Borgata (which getting tickets for either show was such a pain in the friggin' butt) should get preferential treatment when these dates are "rescheduled."

Stevie has gone to great lengths (look at the borderline phony "letter to the fans" that she just released) to say that she thinks things should be like they were "back in the day." Apparently, she does not think things through far enough to wield her power over ticket buying. Oh, go out and buy my new CD, but if you previously bought tickets for one of my shows that is now CANCELED, I can't do anything about that.

As an artist with a huge, loyal fanbase, she is completely, willfully disconnected. She's not doing anything to make sure that the people who jumped through hoops to get tickets to Webster Hall or Borgata, are now taken care of competently. And neither is her publicist, Liz "all my artists have pneumonia" Rosenberg. They are the cynical ones, not the fans.

Until I get some love back for jumping through some hoops (Stevie and Liz better jump through a few of their own to get me my tickets), I will remain skeptical. They get paid millions of dollars in royalties so that we buy CD's and fill seats. I have yet to see anything that even approaches any kind of real sorrow on their parts that these dates have been canceled (with some nebulous wording of "possible" rescheduling).

I'm about ready to jump ship off the Nicks/Rosenberg armada. I'm really questioning if 35 years of loyalty is going to be repaid in any form at all. They could at least throw us all a bone in the form of an HQ video or an extra track or something. ANYTHING would do, but so far nothing other than vague words that they will "try to reschedule." And no words at all if the very difficult attempts we've made recently to get tickets will be compensated when these dates will be vaguely rescheduled. Frankly, I don't think the Webster Hall date will ever reappear in any form ever.

And Dave Stewart teased us all with those lovely ideas of Stevie nights in small clubs all over the place where we could watch his homemade movie and then see Stevie and him perform songs from the new album. Were we fools to ever believe these nights would ever come about? I'm beginning to think so, that we were being led along by seasoned old pros who know how to manipulate their fans. Go out and buy the CD so you'll know the songs ahead of time. After that, we can't promise anything.

I've lost all my joy over the release of the new album. Even if she is really sick, her corporate machine could have done better in terms of some compensation. Those of us who made the difficult effort to take time out of our days to secure and pay for tickets are given hollow promises about "possible" rescheduling. How about something concrete, Miss Liz Rosenberg? If you are the professional you purport to be, with all your power, then cough up some contingency plans. Even the dumbest executive in the most poorly run company knows about contingency plans. Where is yours?

Default Johnny Stew, thank you

I sent a revised copy of my post to Liz Rosenberg and Karen Moss. Thank you for the contact info. Here is the revised text:

Dear Ms. Nicks, Ms. Rosenberg and Ms. Moss,

I'm an older guy who really remembers how things used to work "back in the day." In 2011, it's not an easy task to get a ticket for any show anymore (without getting ripped off by places like Stubhub), so I think you and the record company and the fan club (which, why did we give out our info to you in the first place, other than the possibility that you might cross-market our data to third parties for a fee) should make 100% sure that ANYONE who made the effort to get tickets to Webster Hall or Borgata or any of the other canceled shows should get preferential treatment when these dates are rescheduled.

Stevie has gone to some length (look at the letter to the fans that she just released) to say that she thinks things should be like they were "back in the day." Apparently, she can not wield her power over ticket buying or ticket prices (my first ticket to a Fleetwood Mac concert cost $25) or even make a mention about those issues. Maybe she has no power or relevance anymore. Just go out and buy her album, but if we previously bought tickets for one of her shows that is now canceled, she can't do anything about that. Well, why not? Are you all really that powerless?

As an artist with a huge, loyal fanbase, she seems willfully disconnected. She doesn't take even a moment to mention that the people who jumped through hoops to get tickets to Webster Hall or Borgata, should now be taken care of competently. Just go out and buy the album and love it. You all seem to be the cynical ones, not the fans. What about the people who traveled to NYC before they found out the show was canceled? No mention of them in the letter or the press release at all.

Until I get some love back for jumping through some costly and time-consuming hoops, I will remain skeptical. You all get paid to make sure we buy her songs on iTunes, or buy the album or fill seats. I have yet to see anything that even approaches any kind of real sorrow on your part that these dates have been canceled (other than some nebulous words about "possible" rescheduling).

Well done for writing this. I completely agree. I'd maybe change the "dumbest" executive part but otherwise I think this is just the right tone tto use and you have said exactly what my concerns have been about tour dates for this entire period. Well done. I especially like the "wilfuilly disconnected" line, which I've said several times myself.

Please keep us updated with any response.

Wrong tree.

Karen Moss and Liz Rosenberg have little to do with her choice of performance venues.

Well technically, you aren't owed anything. You've got the music.
And she IS still performing live. Be grateful for that.

She is fragile and has a history of cancelling dates. She is in her sixties.
Of course it's a gamble to outlay any amount of funds to travel to see her at this stage
in her career.

Whether she is detached or not, whether the exhaustion got changed to pneumonia,
whether she was afraid to get on a plane to NYC RIGHT after the guy that ordered
planes to NYC crash into buildings was nabbed, none of this matters.
If you jump ship, there will be another fan in line right behind you.

Stevie will be forgiven absolutely ANYTHING due to the highly obsessive nature of her fans.

Being a fan is a dependent relationship. You like her more than she likes you. It doesn't have to be obsessive to be out of balance, and here's the thing: it's always out of balance. Why can't you just walk away? Well, because it's not rational. You like what you like, but you can't make it do what you want. So my advice is: walk away. Go cold turkey. You'll be happier.

No worries - the Oakdale, Mohegan Sun, and MGM Grand Theater are under consideration for an upcoming tour swing.

The Agganis Arena and Radio City Music Hall are also all but certain.

i was reading an article in the post gazette in pittsburgh about upcoming shows and they said stevie nicks/rod stewart show is pending. oh my i sure hope if she comes that its for her own solo tour. i am greedy and want a full show. she hasnt been to pittsburgh on a solo tour for years. the last time she came through solo i think was 2001 for her tisl tour. she came in 2005 with don henley but i missed that show and ended up going to ohio to see her that year.
