If IYD landed #8 on Itunes overall album chart last week, I'd rekon Stevie has a pretty good ear shot at getting Top 5 on Billboards album chart, with IYD doing even better on Amazon & Barnes & Noble online. Not to mention all the purchases through the WB online retail store, plus the actual physical music retailers.
I'm amazed at "Rumours" chart position on Itunes. That's phenomenal! I guess this goes to prove that all the younger buyers (the gleeks) buy mostly through Itunes.

RTV Channel, May 11, 2011

The release of the first Stevie Nicks album in 10 years has resurrected sales for the Fleetwood Mac ‘Rumours’ album.

Nicks ‘In Your Dreams’ is the first album of solo material from Stevie since ‘Trouble In Shangri-La’ from 2001. It is expected to debut in the Top 5 this week. Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 classic ‘Rumours’ will be around the top 20.

‘Rumours’ is one of the biggest selling albums of all-time. It is estimated to have sold around 40 million worldwide.

The album was Fleetwood Mac’s 11th album but second to feature Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham, formerly the duo Buckingham Nicks.

‘Rumours’ was made in a drug-fuelled haze and personal break-ups between the members of the band. The McVies, John and Christine, ended their 8-year marriage during the recording. Buckingham and Nicks also ended their relationship and Stevie had a fling with Mick Fleetwood. This part of Fleetwood Mac’s history reads like a soap opera.

The songs from the album reflected the situations. Nicks’ ‘Dreams’ is about a breakup, Buckingham was much more direct in his lyrics when he wrote ‘Go Your Own Way’ and ‘Never Going Back Again” while Christine McVie told all about her affair with the lightening guy in ‘You Make Loving Fun’.

The Stevie Nicks ‘In Your Dreams’ album will sell around 17,000 units this week and debut at no.5. Fleetwood Mac ‘Rumours’ has sold around 7000 and should come in at around 20.

Hehe... I love typos.

I wonder where on earth they got those sales figures from? They're nowhere near correct!

Yea, looks like they hit "1" instead of "4".

Wow... the regular version of In Your Dreams is down to #129 on the albums chart? I knew album would peak the first week and fall, but not this dramatically.

I really like the idea/concept of the Lightening Guy!
Perhaps a new super hero in the making.

It's somewhat ridiculous that iTunes categorizes each version of an album or single as its own unit, which prevented "In Your Dreams" from charting a few spots higher. The Deluxe edition just has two videos and the poster. If an album has different or additional songs on standard/deluxe versions, I would understand the methodology, but the album "In Your Dreams" features the same set of songs on both standard and deluxe.

Also, check out Stevie's top 50 tracks. Lots of duplicates, because downloads of Secret Love purchased via the deluxe version and the standard version are not aggregated. Same for other songs culled from a hits package vs. the original album it appeared on.

Reprise needs to get the title track to rock radio and triple A.

Just remember folks that iTunes isn't the end-all, be-all of sales. I can report the following:

Wal-Mart in Mattoon IL: In Your Dreams sold-out. (clerk: "We've been getting a lot of requests for that.")
Barnes & Noble in Madison WI: In Your Dreams sold-out (clerk: "We just had a bunch of them in yesterday...we'll get more soon. Come back.")
Best Buy in Madison WI: In Your Dreams sold-out (didn't talk to a clerk there).

It's possible that she's doing much better in hard copy sales than she is among the digital people.

And the album is still #3 at Amazon. Only below Adele and Gaga.
