You crack me up, Mimi.

Yeah, I think we can guess Lindsey on this one. The mentions of taking his hand, the crowd fading away, still the same after all these years...

She'll only change her mind in 3 months about who the song is really about.

The bigger question: does she even need to? Some of her songs leave room for doubt (FWIW, for example), but My Heart screams "this is about LB!" so loud she doesn't really need to say it.
The same could be said of at least half of Lindsey's new songs.

Hahaha, very true.

But, then again, I thought 'In Your Dreams' screamed Lindsey and what do you know, she around saying it's about the TISL tour and post 9/11 or something.

Solid point--I was thrown by that one too.

In fact, Lindsey gave an interview (SYW era?) where he admitted that even he's sometimes spent years thinking a Stevie song was about him, only to find out it was about someone else entirely. I'm thinking Angel falls into that category...

According to Stevie, every song has at least one line about Lindsey. That's probably not easy to refute. Ok, maybe some songs.

I think the beginning of IYD is absolutely about someone (WW? CR?) helping her get through the post 9/11 tour, but then there are some lines in that song that seem LBish to me too. The chorus, the part about the tears. I'm sure it's a lot of little things like all her songs tend to be.

The liner notes:

"A song about the time right after 9-11. A person who promised me that he would get me through every show - even though I was terrified. We did not go home and hide - we stayed on the road and did our best to lift people's spirits."

I really hope not. I just don't get the Mick vibe from that song like others do.

If it turns out that every song on IYD is about Lindsey, great. If it would have been that none of the songs are about Lindsey, that would have been great, too.

One of the things about songs is that, whatever the song means to the writer or to the singer, a song can very often take on a different meaning for the listener. Sometimes, that meaning resonates for the listener more strongly than it does for the writer or the singer.

For example, I know what led Stevie to write "Gypsy," but its personal meaning to me in my life to me overpowers what Stevie was writing about from her life. And, in my own little world, I imagine "Fall From Grace" segueing into "Destiny Rules" live because, to my mind, "Destiny Rules" is the sequel to Fall From Grace."

Stevie could very well have Karen Johnston hop on this board first thing tomorrow morning and tell me Stevie herself wants to disabuse me of the notion that "Destiny Rules" is the sequel to "Fall From Grace" and I won't give two ****s in a bucket about it. That's just the way it goes with songs sometimes.
