You've just described why I don't care for the song & album Wild Heart. The whole affair just seems to be egotistical rambling, with no one roping in Stevie's focus. Jimmy Iovine kept Stevie very grounded and focused on Bella Donna, but she obviously wriggled loose from his grip on Wild Heart.

7. Alice
And here I was ready & willing to be the villain who trashed "Alice".

I tend to flip-flop between "Wild Heart" & "Bella Donna", but tonight BD is the favorite:

1) Bella Donna
2) Wild Heart
3) Rock a Little
4) Trouble in Shangri-la (I hate the vocal on the verses)
5) In Your Dreams (I like the vocal, but the song lacks the lyrical depth of TISL)
6) Street Angel (might be higher if we weren't going by the album version - I really like the "Jeremy's re-mix" version on YouTube)
7 (million) ) Alice

Oh, Louie, the song is called WILD Heart, not Roped-in-from-rambling Heart.

This is actually the single best, most succinct retort I've ever received regarding my dislike of WH. Touche!

I do wish I could drink the WH Kool Aid, but I just can't swallow it. You have gotten me to contemplate the song and album with your thoughts, though.

I can't either. I really don't get the love for that song.

For me, I'd say three-way tie between Wild Heart, TISL and In Your Dreams.

But I realize that IYD has to stand the test of time. I'll see what I think a year from now.

The Wild Heart album always struck me the same way. The lyrics were more esoteric than on Bella Donna, not a crime necessarily but they were tied to really ham-handed synth heavy music. It should have been eerie or mystical synth music. But all the synths on the album are like stolid waves that hit you. In one case, "Stand Back", it's magical and really works well but in other cases it doesn't: The synth refrain that drives "Nightbird", the dun-dun-dunnadundun belts of "Nothing Ever Changes", even the rolling synths of "If Anyone Falls In Love". All of that sounds heavy to me, and it's matched with very spacey lyrics.

Tabruns I really need to get this off my chest. Don't be offended. You probably feel the same way about me. But YOUR TASTE SUCKS. 100 PERCENT SUCKS!!!!!!!!! Theres no nice way for me to put it.I find it hard to belive we can both be fans of the same woman. That small paragraph contains so many contridictions to what I feel. Wild Heart, Nightbird, and NEC are all in my top 10 Stevie songs. And the one song you said the synth works for is Stand Back and at least in the studio thats my lest favorite on Wild Heart.

Now Louie I realize you share the same opinions onthose very same songs, but in case you didn't notice in the soldiers angel thread I forgive you forever on any Wild Heart opinions since you're one of the few people who appreciate Soldiers Angels Brilliance. Tabruns, I looked up your IYD rankings and of course your bottom 3 are my top 3 Soldiers, Ghosts and IYD.

Again don't be offended, I'm just baffled how we can like the same woman but not agree on any of the aspects that make certain songs great or suck.

Of course I'm offended. I'm not offended that you have a different opinion. I'm offended that the best you can muster is "YOUR TASTE SUCKS" (in all caps no less).

Notice that I didn't say "These songs suck" and leave it at that. I gave reasons why I didn't care for them. I was specific. I wasn't expecting anyone to feel identical to me, I was stating that I didn't care for them and why.

If you'd stated that they're your favorites and why, I wouldn't have batted an eye. I might even reconsider them, depending on what you said. But just screaming "YOUR TASTE SUCKS" and following that up with an unbelievably lame "no offense"? Please.

I've expressed why all those songs I mentioned are my favorites in great detail Many Many Times before. Almost all of my posts go into almost too much detail on my opinions of songs. But for right now, its late , im tired and I don't feel like going into great detail again. I just needed to get that off my chest before I forgot. I felt a strong opinion and I needed to express it. Me saying "Oh I disagree with your opinion" simply did not cut it for me.
