I think you made it clear that you separated RAL from the rest of the pack because of personal, sentimental reasons, which I think is usually what distinguishes people's favorite Stevie albums it seems to me. So: please know that I am not laughing at you.

It's tough to do a 1-13/14. I like the tier idea.
Over The Top Favorites: (A+) Wide Sargasso Sea, Annabel Lee, In Your Dreams, For What It's Worth (I put each of these on repeat) Right Up There: A (still a 4.0): Moonlight, New Orleans, Ghosts Are Gone, Everybody Loves You, Secret Love, My Heart, You May Be The One Good Song, But Not A Favorite (A-): Italian Summer (this song is very pretty, Stevie's voice is full and lush, but musically I think it belongs to an earlier generation. Still, it provides diversity on this album, and gives something for everyone! Weakest Songs In MyMind: B-/C Soldier's Angel, Cheaper Than Free Soldier's Angel is a fulfillment of a promise, and earned it's way on the album. Cheaper Than Free, on the other hand, doesn't actually fit on this album in my mind other than to provide a Dave/Stevie duet. They both worked hard on this album--so that song stays, too. Take a bow. You both deserve it! This album was sequenced perfectly. It's a solid album for Stevie. |

After buying the Barnes & Noble version and listening to it repeatedly here is my revised opinion:
For What It’s Worth 10/10 Moonlight 10/10 Annabel Lee 10/10 Wide Sargasso Sea 9/10 My Heart 7/10 (I really like this one) Secret Love 9/10 (still hate the abrupt ending) Italian Summer 8/10 (music sounds similar to Abba's "Winner Takes It All") In Your Dreams 7/10 You May Be the One 7/10 Ghosts Are Gone 6/10 (good song but sounds like something Bryan Adams would do) New Orleans 7/10 Soldier’s Angel (this years Illume...dull and repetitive) 3/10 Everybody Loves You (god awful...ruined by Dave's terrible vocals) 2/10 Cheaper Than Free (one of the worst things she's done...again Dave's awful vocals don't help) 1/10 |

“In Your Dreams” continues to sound better.. with age.. with a glass of mellow dry red.. When I first started listening to In Your Dreams, I went from front to back to front to back for about 20 times.. Trying to figure it out.. just feelin’ it.. a new Stevie Nicks record…my personal holiday. Next, I began listening to a certain song on repeat (Ghosts are Gone, Moonlight, Annabel Lee, and You May Be the One to name a few)… and then in small pieces.. my mixes.. my blue water close to the fog mix - Everybody Loves You, Ghosts are Gone, You May Be the One, and Italian Summer. My “what if this was Fleetwood Mac” mix - For What it’s Worth, Annabel Lee (almost is), You May Be The One (imagine Lindsey and Christine singing backup on ‘.. see the light inside you..” and the oohs and aahhs..) my juke joint fairy dust mix - Wide Sargasso Sea, New Orleans, Moonlight, and Annabel Lee… my short lesbian love mix - For What Its Worth and Annabel Lee. If I didn’t know anything about Stevie Nicks and listened to For What Its Worth and Annabel Lee, while flipping through the cd booklet, I would think she was a lesbian..
And than I sometimes drop by and listen to Secret Love and In Your Dreams.. btw, isn’t Moonlight the most beautifully strange, kind of woman that would haunt you song - just staring?.. Soon I’m going to start wrapping these In Your Dreams tracks around with songs from Trouble In Shangri-la, another beautiful album. I think they will mix very, very well.. I haven’t listened to Soldier’s Angel and Cheaper than Free in a few days.. I love this record.. “…like a ghost.. through the fog..”

We are ranking these songs, but I put this thing on shuffle and all these songs are just great. There is sooo much variety. It's like listening to the radio. You never get bored. I think today after my fandome was over, I finally started to appreciate this album for what it really is --- very, solid songs across all radio formats. It's really special. Her and Dave managed to make really good songs in each genre. I'm really digging this album. It's just a good job across all genres.

A couple of the songs are country-ish ("For What It's Worth" and "Cheaper Than Free") but that's really it. Unless they equate anything not hard rock/metal as being "country".

In Your Dreams is countryish. It's just as country as some of the stuff that gets played on country stations. Oh well, at least country stations hold up their older artists better.
