I don't think anyone missed much at the Ritz, though--the DJ was not into making it a Stevie/IYD night. Stand Back was followed by about 5 non-Stevie songs, so I went up to request Rooms on Fire, which he didn't seem to have heard of! I then asked for Edge and was given a "whoa, crazy Stevie fan" look and told, "Okay, hun...we'll see...maybe later."

Mimi and I were walking down 45th street to meet everyone for dinner, engaged in some SnL talk I believe and all of the sudden I felt a death grip on my arm and witnessed a shriek probably heard down in Battery Park and I think my heart skipped a beat. Poor Mimi could barely utter the words that there's a rat like 2 feet in front of us. THANK GOODNESS I didn't see it because you'd still be prying me off the fire escape. It was just such a moment...we ran across the street and it took us to the end of the block to figure out what the hell we were previously talking about. It was off the chain a priceless moment.

Rat sightings are just nothing unusual for NYC, but for broad daylight on the street it was more than enough for me.

Wow--I cannot believe I missed that!

You know, in 21 years of living here I've still never seen a rat. A few mice (mostly at night) but never a rat. I'm either lucky or oblivious (both?).

I know--weird, right? I think it's partly because I barely use the subway, and mainly because I have appalling vision and almost never wear my glasses

LOL. What you said reminds me of a scene with Penelope Ann Miller in Adventures in Babysitting where she's holed up in a bus station waiting for her friend to pick her up and she loses her glasses and thinks she's petting a cat and it turns out it's a rat.
