Been listening to a lot of her interviews lately. I've got the cd/dvd version of Hard Bargain on the way!

Just thought add I'd my name to the list of those who love Emmy (see Sorceress, I'm posting!) I'm excited to see her July 23 (so long as my nightmare that they reschedule the Borgata show for the same day doesn't come true, lol, that would be just my luck).
I haven't had a chance to listen to the new album more than a few times yet, but my favorite album is either Red Dirt Girl or Stumble Into Grace, though I also love Wrecking Ball, Western Wall, Cowgirl's Prayer, At the Ryman...I think I'm going to be here awhile... ![]() |

I definitely want to try to do that! I'll have to check my schedule at work since I'd have to miss a few days if we try to do that one too. As long as it doesn't conflict with Faulkner Conference it should work though!

Anyone have thoughts on Hard Bargain? I think it pales in comparison to IYD, but there are a few good songs. I like Emmy's New Orleans, Six White Cadillacs, The Road. I seriously dislike Big Black Dog.
The DVD that came with the deluxe edition of the album is really bleak and depressing. And dull. I know Emmy's not much of an actress, but they certainly could have done more than show her sitting in a room, performing rather undynamically, switching back and forth from sepia to black and white. Maybe they were trying to be artsy, but strikes me as lazy. I'm distracting myself from my disappointment about Stevie's cancelled shows by being snarky about Emmylou, I guess. ![]() |

Right now I'm worried about the same as gypsyrhiannon is on Stevie's New dates this summer interfering with Emmylou. As I say Stevie comes first. Also I love to see Dolly Parton coming up on Sat, July 30th too at the Oakdale in town. I dont want to wait to late to get tickets for these shows by waiting for Stevie's last minute tour schedule come to life.I remember years ago I had a conflict with dates with Stevie vs Wynonna Judd. Also one time with Trisha Yearwood as i remember.

I really like Big Black Dog and can see it being a live favourite with a singalong chorus "Her name was Beellla". So far I also like The Road, Six White Cadillacs and New Orlenas. I think this album will be a grower. I'm seeing her at the end of May!
Yeah, the dvd is a bit basic but still nice.

![]() There are some on the Emmylou board who like Big Black Dog too. It is cute and catchy, and I know it's important to Emmy... it's just a little too cute and catchy. Sort of like "More exciting than high fashion? High passion!" |

I too will have to stop listening to IYD for a few minutes before I can fully form my opinion on Hard Bargain, but overall I like it and I think it will continue to grow on me. Big Black Dog is not a favorite of mine, but I was pleasantly surprised by Darlin' Kate, and I love love love The Road. I was also really pleased with the print of The Road lyrics that came with it. I haven't had a chance to watch the DVD yet, so I can't comment on that. I must remember to bring it in from my car.
At this point I've decided not to worry too much about Stevie conflicts. Worse case scenario I will just have to lost the ticket price on the other show, lol. (Like you Sorceress I can imagine very few circumstances in which I would not choose Stevie.) On a side note, I got an email from ticketmaster today saying that Willie Nelson tickets were going onsale in about 5 minutes. Thinking that might be a good Mother's Day present for my mom since she's a fan, I moseyed on over to check it out. Pulled up two front row center aisle seats no problem. Why does that never happen for Stevie or Emmy or anyone else I really love? lol |

It happens for Emmy. I've never had any difficulty getting good seats for her.

Yeah, the worst seat I've had for Emmy was the Kate McGarrigle tribute in London last year. That sold out super fast.
