I hope whatever happens, that the pace of projects increases significantly in the coming years. They are all getting long in the tooth. In decades past, it was standard practice to put out every year, otherwise your career was in peril because you were easily fogotten. Since the nineties, Fleetwood Mac and Stevie have cruised on compilation albums, with a serious lull in new material over a vast amount of time. (At least Lindsey realized that and stepped up with enough new solo albums that almost match Stevie's output). Even if it isn't new material, they have alot to mine: Buckingham Nicks album Fleetwood Mac -- rarities/b-sides, numerous live performances for CD and DVD Stevie Nicks - her vast "vault"

ummmm, I don't think Stevie really listens to Lindsay's advice that much. She seems to do whatever Dave wants. Lindsey can produce her better than anyone, but there is a wall between them and it hurts the music. Say You Will is a prime example of that.

Say You Will is more of an example of how not to make a record (ie. Lindsey taking a solo album and working on that material for months before Stevie came into the studio)... I think the idea of Say You Will was great, it was the finished product that didn't deliver. That said, I dig the record and am glad they made it.

Vivfox!! This is it, I completely agree. In Your Dreams is country enough....it's been done. Stevie singing standards would be LOVELY.

Really? I find it kinda sad to see an artist do that... (like Rod Stewart doing all those American Songbook things)... ick... no thanks. But hey, some people dig it. I wouldn't mind Stevie doing a cover or two on each record, but not a full on covers collection... neh. Hmm... okay yeah I'd probably still buy it

I don't want another Mac CD unless Christine is part of the mix. She doesn't have to tour. In fact, let the band do an extended Vegas stint (with Chris) and fans will flock to them!
As for Stevie, I'd rather see her write a book or venture into other areas of the arts. I love the new CD, so if it's her last one, I'm cool with it. |

I like SYW and i would never say i wasn't glad they did it. After listening to IYD however, i understand what Stevie means by wanting Dave to always produce. No tension, no fights, no hurt feelings, just great music. Basically a drama-free experience. I don't think she has ever experienced that with FM. Now, there's no going back in her mind. I don't know if LB would be willing to relinquish control like that . I love LB and i am NOT trying to disrespect him in any way. I just don't know how well LB and DS would /could work together ?

Definitely another Buckingham Nicks or Mac album.
BN being the preferred option just because well, the Mac is practically BN anyway but I feel like they would feel like they had more freedom as BN...

I'm also on a FM or Buckingham Nicks new album bandwagon. But would Lindsey and Stevie be capable to work together on a new album staying alive both? Destiny Rules showed some big moments of armed truce like Everybody finds out mixing war.

The steam hasn't yet stopped coming off the new release.
It took her a decade to even begin a new album. She's 62, soon to be 63. We don't live forever, not even Stevie Nicks. In a perfect world, she would have filled all those in-between years with an album of standards (including her stunning version of "At Last," her duet album with Tom Petty, her duet album with Don Henley, Buckingham Nicks II and III and maybe even IV, and then maybe even two or three more really good Fleetwood Mac records (especially before Christine retired). But in the reality we live in, all of those people lived hard fast complicated lives and those records did not happen. We're lucky to have what we've got. Let it be. |
