I don't see any reason for you to defend yourself. It's your hard earned money and you have a right to do with it what you want.

As I read this thread I saw people who said they could not afford this, but did it anyway, so I asked a reasonable question. Jeesh, now let it go.
actually sweetiepie i am NOT a newbie! i just recently came back. anyhoo.........

before you start asking questions, you may want to think about how others may take them. if your intention was to help, which i highly doubt it was NOT..........EPIC FAIL! you were not making things any better. IT'S OBVIOUS that you bothered some ppl by what you posted. i honestly believe that you know that and you simply don't care. if that's the case.......say so. at least state your true position. don't try to sugar coat anything.

now you talk about someone driving themselves into debt.................please just hush! we are all adults here, for the most part, so we have to be responsible for the decisions we make/made. if someone dipped into their savings for this, that's on them! SINCE YOU CLAIM YOU SAW STEVIE IN 1975 then you should understand y someone would dig down deep to scrap up cash.

TO ALL THOSE that went out of your way to see Stevie..........i feel your pain. let's try our best to make the best of this and HAVE A BLAST TONIGHT AND TOMORROW!!! the new AMAZING cd has dropped and we will party tonight! *hugs* AND BE CAMERA READY HONEY!!!!

First off, I wish Stevie a speedy recovery. I hope she is getting much needed rest and care.

Secondly, for those of you who purchased tickets, flew to NY, etc. I am truly sorry that Stevie's illness has created problems for you. It is unfortunate, but just try to remember that Stevie didn't do this to you on purpose. People can't control illnesses. She didn't want to be sick. I'm sure that she is just as upset that she can perform and celebrate her new CD, and that she couldn't perform on the TODAY Show this morning. That would have been great publicity. Hang in there guys and gals!

I'm sure Stevie's very upset. She's a workaholic and she loves her fans. I'm sure she's aware of the trouble they go to to see her and is giving the doc a bad time. Stevie has always been fan oriented. But, realize, that she's not a youngster and any illness is serious.

I can't believe this is happening! I wish Stevie a speedy recovery and I hope it's not too serious. The first thing I thought about was all of you that had plans to travel and see her. I'm so sorry!! I hate to say it but the second thing I thought about was how freakin' weird this is! The whole, new cd release, 9/11, New York, Bin Laden connection. Ten years later, its just weird. I'm not saying she's not sick and it's because of bin laden and afraid of flying and being in NYC right now that she cancelled, I'm just saying what a hell of a coincidence! Eerie.

Major diff between 5/1 and 9/11 - we got the bad guy, he didn't get us....that should be a good sign for Stevie.

So... a little back story. I have yet to be able to see Stevie live. I almost got to in 2009 when FM came to Nashville, but the show fell on my summer break and I ended up going home to Chicago. When I first heard about the Webster show and how special it was going to be, it got my wheels turning. Then I saw that the show was going to be on my birthday. I felt like it was fate telling me I had to be there. My family is huge on celebrating birthdays and making them amazing. So, my mom agreed to buy my ticket to the show and also decided to accompany me on the trip so she could spend my birthday with me (Last year I had to spend my birthday alone thanks to all the floods in Nashville). I'm also an only child so this factors into it as well.

Since I graduated, I have not been able to find a job in my industry (Music Business). Because I have no income coming in, that is why I was technically spending money I don't have on this trip. And money that was spent were my tiny bit of savings that were allocated for expenses. Yes, it was crazy to spend that money when I should be saving every penny. I did lose half of the money I spent on the hotel since they wouldn't refund the first night (about $220). All the money on airfare is now on an airline credit, so technically it's gone until I use it. The show tickets will be refunded. I also traveled from Nashville to Chicago last week because it was cheaper to fly from Chicago to NYC than it was to fly from Nash to NYC. I flew out a little bit early to visit my hometown. I'm currently now stuck in Chicago until Monday since the NYC trip is now off. So, there's the cost of my trip from Nash to Chicago to factor in as well. Lots of expense, but it is only money. Life goes on. As of now I can still afford to buy food, so life is good. It's all about the experience and memories in life. Some of my greatest memories are from last minute decisions that I couldn't really afford, but did it anyway.

I'm a huge believer in what's meant to be will be, and believe that everything is up to fate. So, I'm hoping something good will at least come out of this. I had to beg a company to move a job interview until next week and so far they agreed. Maybe that factors into this somehow? I don't know yet.

Sorry for the novel. But I just wanted to give a back story into why I did what I did.

you don't have to explain or apologize doll, you just do what you want...life is short, things could change in a blink of an eye...I"ll know you'll find some fanastic job soon!

This was a once in a lifetime event. It wasn't some same old casino show. You have to take into consideration that some fans made many sacrifices to be able to go to this show. It is not just on a financial level either. Don't forget some people have classes, work, or take care of children or other loved ones. It wasn't as simple as " hey Stevie's coming to town" for many people. It was like a trip to Mecca for some of us fans. I don't feel as if anyone should be judging anyone regardless of how much money was spent or who skipped out on classes. We are all in the same boat at one time or another. Let's just hope that one of us can hand someone a life raft when needed.
