When I was on Yahoo about 30 minutes ago, she was the top search -- above bin Laden's death. Not quite sure what to make of that.

Default Stevie topping charts?

Amazon #2 tonight.....come on Adele move over for a few days...give stevie some room....I've got to admit Adele has the best album of the year hands down but IYD is fantastic and I'd love to Stevie hold the #1 spot for a week on Amazon & Billboard...Shes a legend that would make history if she can top the charts for a brief time

I think Adele's album is fine, but it's one of those cases where the marketing exceeds the product.

Seriously? This is another one of those posts that makes me regret where popular music lost its' way, somewhere in the 90's. She has raw ability but lacks so much.

Besides, we have Seeds We Sow to wait for..

She's marketed well. It's the British invasion of Duffy, Adale, Florence and Amy Whinehouse. It's like when Simon Cowell became sooo successful, he brought over a lot connections from Britain and they are having a field day over here. They pretty much just recycle the past for hits. Florence I think really is creative, but she needs to do more.

I think Adele's album has some truly stunning songs on it, like Rolling In The Deep, Set Fire To The Rain, Turning Tables and, especially, Someone Like You, but I wouldn't say it's the best album of the year.

I'd be amazed if Stevie was able to overtake her on Amazon though, Adele's album has been completely unstoppable over here in the UK.

oh, don't get me wrong, I like Adele. I do. I just don't think it's nothing we haven't heard. One of my favorite songs a couple of years ago was Chasing Pavements. I thought it was really touching. I like Turning Tables and Rolling into Deep off this one. I'm just saying her over-the-top success has a lot to do with marketing. She seems like a sweetheart.

Oh, I agree. Adele's marketing has been brilliant. I think her gimmick is that... she has no gimmick. It's all about her and her voice. And after the GaGa-inspired pop madness we've seen for the past 18 months or so, where they all try to out-do each other in the crazy stakes, Adele seems quite, well, normal.
