Wow, so apparently bin Laden used one of his wives as a human shield when the bullets started flying:

Default Was the killing of Bin Laden legal?

First of all.. I must say I'm glad he finally was shot down, though my mood was never in a "celebrate" status.

however... This article is interesting.

What is fair, right, justifiable... not necessarily is within the legal..
Wether is an act of war or not is a key legal circumstances because an armed combatant in the context of a war can be legally shot. Not the suspect or convicted of a crime, which must be brought to justice, trial.

I coldn't find this BBC page in english, but it's exactly what I was afraid of. This attitude will generate nothing but more hate, violence, and murders from the extremists.

Bin Laden death on sale! Less than 3 hours after the President announcement, merchandise is available: T-shirts, mugs, hats, stickers, bags:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mundo/noticias/...ting_jmp.shtml

I can't imagine myself drinking my coffee in a mug with this topic. It's completely understandable that the american people may see this new with.. joy, or satisfaction. But IMHO it should be a bit more sober, discret.

This stuff......sorry to say makes me not so proud to live here. How stupid is that? We did not end terror. This blind celebration makes me sick......sorry but it does

Why in the hell did they bury him already? I've heard the excuse that he's supposed to be buried within 24 hrs due to some tradition... what the--? So what proof is there that he is in fact dead, and that it is Bin Laden that they've killed?

they matched his dna w/ brain tissue they had from his sister~

they also said burial at sea was because he had to be buried 24 hours after death & they didn't want a grave for people to go to & no country wanted his body~

So there's no real proof that it was him, then? I mean, that's what that says to me.

Unless- they use his brain tissue to clone a new version of his head! Of course... without the beard people might not recognize him... Hmm...

It will be like the Anastasia mistery. They compared an Anna Anderson tissue with a relative but when Anna was already dead (the tissue was kept in a hospital from an old surgery.. I never knew hospitals keeps tissue from patients). The analysis said Annas was not Annastasia. But who knows? In this case it's a far more serious dilemma

It's true about the islamic tradition of burying within 24 hr, but why they respected that, and not other factors in this episode?? Hummm....

Well, I'm glad he's dead & they were just a little too nice about the way they disposed of his body, JMO. The people on 9/11 didn't get a proper burial.

As far as celebrating his death, well, not so fast. You are always going to have some nut job ready to replace him. Nothing will be the same again & it (terrorism) will never end.

He's been dead for a number of years.
Looks like Obama & co. just secured their places for the next term. What a desperate move.Spinning a story about killing the big bad man who was out to get you.
I hate the way they play people in politics. And it works a treat every time

That could very well be the truth... especially since the world didn't see his body.

"Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles, lest the Lord see it and be displeased, and turn away his anger from him."

Who knows? If nobody saw his body, he may have been dead for years, or maybe he's alive living in Borneo. It's like saying Adolf Hitler died in Argentina in 1964. These doubts could produce speculation for years.

I like your phrase between quotes!

I'm not normally one for Bible quotes, but the first part of this sums up my feelings about this. Yes, he was a hideous scumbag and undoubtedly deserves what he's received, but to actively celebrate anybody's death is, in my eyes, a vile reaction.

Also, as many have said, my first reaction was 'How can people genuinely believe this is the end of terrorism and everything's going to be alright now?'

The whole thing makes me horribly uneasy.
