Personally, I don't think it is a laughing matter or a reason to celebrate. As an Australian, I don't know what to say because no one I knew was struck in the tragedies of terrorism.

Does this mean that Steve E. is the catalyst for destruction?

Funny that someone other than us die-hard fans noticed that. I just posted about it in the IYD chart position thread. Truth be told, it has me kind of puzzled too.

For those who want to discuss the more political aspects of this news development, please do so in the thread located in the Chit Chat section:

http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=46934

Let's please keep the Stevie Nicks board dedicated to Stevie Nicks. Anything goes in Chit Chat, though.

I wonder if that's demographics at work? She's not trending on google. Obviously this doesn't apply to you at all, but when I think of those who use yahoo I think of older, more traditional people. Which is perhaps more of a Stevie demographic?

Says a lot about our society and priorities, doesn't it? Not to mention gastric bypass was trending more than gas prices... which are hitting $4/gallon across the US, threatening to stall our very tepid economic recovery.

And Paris Hilton and Katie Holmes are trending more than Mother's Day. Wow. Another indication of our priorities.

And a pop album is bigger news than the most reviled villain in the world being killed after a 10 year hunt. Am I the only one who finds this extremely disturbing?

These questions come up every time "trending" does.
"What are our priorities?" "Why does everyone care so much about third nipples?" "Is 'Miley Cyrus toe ring' really more important that a presidential primary?" etc.

And listen: I get it. I definitely thought it was weird that Stevie was trending higher than Bin Laden. But troubling as the implication may be, I don't think we need to fret for our national character, or anything. We're looking a comparatively small sliver of the population (Do you yahoo? I don't!). I'm pretty sure that if you actually polled Americans, 99.99% would consider the death of Bin Laden to be more important. And just because people are looking up Katie Holmes more often than Mother's Day doesn't necessarily mean they consider her more important.
I mean, I love my mother--she's very possibly my favorite human. But I can't say I've felt the need to look up Mother's Day on a search engine lately. And I probably have looked up some random s***. Doesn't mean I consider "sand swallow nesting" more important. In fact, it really doesn't mean anything at all.
Maybe Katie Holmes is just all kinds of fun to yahoo?

Anyway, just my opinion.

It's great they captured and killed Bin Laden but It doesn't mean an end to terrorists It wouldn't surprise me someone else will popp up and be just as bad if not worst than him. why bury his body at sea so soon they killed him last week on Easter and now making announcement that he died they should show the world his dead body.

I actually whispered "God Bless America" upon reading this title. But I agree that it's not funny and is scary, too. My thoughts will be with every citizen of the USA, the families and survivors of 9/11 and every other good soul on this earth until this awful mess goes far far away into a nice little void in time and space.

We are going to let down our guard and let disaster right back in, I'm afraid.
I am hoping it will be just the opposite - security will be upped for sure.

Now I lay me down to sleep, one less terrorist this world does keep. With all my heart I give my thanks, to those in uniform regardless of ranks. You serve our country and serve it well, with humble hearts your stories tell. So as I rest my weary eyes, while freedom rings our flag still flies. You give your all, do what you must...with God we live and God we trust. Amen. ~ STAND UP FOR OUR TROOPS
