Great interview! So exciting she wants to make more albums. I can't wait to listen to this
![]() I vote she does like, 2-3 shows and then heads back to the studio :P I could give her a list of songs she could do if she can't decide. Maybe she can ask Dave to help her out with the Rhiannon project! Man, it's too bad they didn't meet up sooner. But it's better late then never!

Such a lovely interview. Honest and insightful. Dave seems to really have given Stevie her creative mojo back, after a few years of restlessness (I'd include the whole 'Say You Will' project in that period too - she didn't have anywhere near this amount of enthusiasm for that album).

Hearing her say that this record is the opposite of regret is incredible and makes me want to hug her. I'm so happy to hear the contentment coming from her and I hope she is rewarded for producing something in such a pure, good-spirited way. At 62, finding a new way to become creative and enjoying the process so fully must feel a lot like a perfect natural high, a pure life-affirming experience. Another thing: I am saddened for her by the loss of her young friend, but I am happy that she was able to mourn for her so completely and freely. When Robin died, I think Stevie and a lot of other people, including myself, did not get to really fully mourn in a way that released the loss from our souls. I always thought of Robin as Stevie's touchstone, and that her loss meant more than anyone realized. I wonder if Stevie's experience of crying for young Sara helped let go of the Robin-loss demons that she had been carrying for almost 30 years. That alone might have allowed Stevie to produce in such a carefree, happy way, finding the making of the record to be more of a true creative process, a labor of love, and less of a day at WORK. Can't wait to see the footage of those dinners. Sounds like a great film in the making. Love to all involved in the making of IN YOUR DREAMS and I hope it gets the recognition it deserves! |

Stevie Nicks Dedicates New Album To Tragic Fan
Singer/songwriter Stevie Nicks has dedicated her latest album to a fan who lost her battle with cancer in 2008. The Fleetwood Mac star's In Your Dreams is dedicated to 'Sara, my sweet girl' and Nicks explains the mention is for a fan who became a good friend. She tells Spinner.com, "She had a very rare kind of cancer, and our friend Lisa Loeb connected me and her parents. They brought her to a show, and we became very close. She was about 21 when I met her, and she'd been fighting this cancer since she was 17. "I was in very close contact with her and her parents through three years. In 2008, I flew to Pennsylvania and spent a day with her. She died three days later. "When Sara died, I was in Mexico in a very quiet house, and I was hit extremely hard. She loved my music so much, and she wanted me to do another record so much, and I was still on that 'I'm never going to do another record' kick. "I just loved her so much, and it was very hard to lose her. She fought a really good fight between 17 and 24, and I dedicated the record to her because I felt in so many ways that it belonged to her." http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf...ic-fan_1216187 |

Also, I totally agree with your post. I sometimes think that Stevie might have started to spend so much time supporting sick people precisely because she felt she needed to atone for not being there for Robin. She said recently that Robin even told her not to visit, because she was high and people were dying and it wasn't right. That was something I found hard to read. |

Of course. And you're right, it's impossible to know what anyone else is feeling. Thanks for sharing your insights, though.

I did know Robin, but not one millionth of the way Stevie knew her. As it is dealing with anyone you love being ill, it was an extremely hard time, and there is always the desire to be strong for the ill person, to respect their suffering, but still the need to feel the balance of your own feelings of loss and desperation, and to address your own suffering. Compounded by the rock and roll lifestyle, tour preparations, relationship issues and a baby, I think the period after Robin's death was a whirlwind of confusion. And while I would never speak for Stevie, I think the situation called for much more of an emotional release than there was time or opportunity for. Do I know for sure how anyone else truly felt? No, I can only speak for myself, and this is said in love and respect and concern for those gone and living. I only brought this up because I pondered about a connection between Stevie's grieving for young Sara and the incredible feeling of this album. In all, I am thrilled for Stevie for the beauty of this record and I hope it tears up the charts! |
