Stevie has several times that she enjoyed the writing process with Dave "like McCartney and Lennon"....I'm not at all disappointed that she found a partner to compose music with...I think it's great! It doesnt lessen the legitmacy of the music

I love that too! She pulls out her sassy voice for that one. That bit's been running through my head all day.
I kind of can't believe I like it, either--the phrase "make love" normally skeeves me out something fierce.

It just sounds weird to me.

I don't think it's technically incorrect--just a slightly odd way of phrasing it. I might be wrong, though. Any English majors? Marissa?

I'm having a harder time accepting "No it could not happen worse." Like, if You May Be the One weren't such an awesome song in every other way, that line would probably be enough to put me off it entirely.

it is grammatically correct. since "was" is a linking verb, it joins the subject of the sentence ("thing") with the complement ("to make love."). if the line read "the only thing that they did together was make love," it would be incorrect because "make love" is not a noun or adjective. you cannot describe a noun with a verb. in this case, "to make love" is an infinitive, which functions as a noun in this sentence. stevie has bent or broken other grammar rules in the past, but she is on point in this example.

Thinking back on what first got us excited, the news that there was blood on those tracks, I try to imagine which songs he meant that about. I imagine it's the ones with attitude and reckoning like Wide Sargasso Sea and You May Be The One.

OK I finally realized it was dunm to make myself wait til Tuesday. Really what was I thining. What do I gain out of that. It's the same music, I waited 10 years for it, is it gonna sound better on it "official" release date. No it'll sound the same. So I've listened through 3 times now.

I know I'm like #116 to say this but WOW just WOW. Exceeded expectations in every way. Ghosts are Gone is quite possibly just my absolute favorite Stevie solo song ever forget in X number of years, just ever. Soldiers Angel is right up there with it (although as much as I love it, they could've saved it as the first finished song on the next FM album, although then your risking it to not ever come out) Its way better then Bella Donna, which is what we seem to all use as a measuring stick although I don;t know why since BD isn't everyone's favorite album to begin with. IYD is better then BD to me, but the real decision I have to make is if it surpasses Wild Heart. Way too early to tell, but I'm going with tenatively yes. I guess I should do a song by song:


1. Secret Love- Very Ironic, maybe her best album ever but this is without a doubt her worst opening track. I always "liked" this song, but secretly hoped it wasn't anywhere near the best and it sure isn't. In fact 11 songs are better.

2. For What Its Worth- Like I gathered from the clip this could be on Tom Petty Wildflowers or Neil Young Harvest. In fact I almost hear Old Man with different lyrics and vocals obviously. Love it,.

3. IYD- So freaking catchy and full of energy

4. Wide Sargasso Sea- Amazing soaring vocals. Ghosts wins the battle of the rockers but this is just so new sounding for her.

5. New Orleans- Such a positve and uplifting song for NO. I really hope it gets some national attention. The last minute is my favorite.

6. Moonlight- On first listen I really didn't like how the new and old portions mixed. But after being ready for the switch I got the awseomness. although the slow piano parts especially the very first few lines are way too nasal. This could be compared to Nightbird on steriods

7. Anabel Lee- Wow did they do a great job with this song. This is like the child of Gypsy and Sara. Its weird how I feel about this song. I can name 10 things great about this song. The vocal, the amazing lush music. The ending. The interlude, but in the end I just can't REALLY get into it. I like it, but its my least favorite of the 11 songs I like a lot if that makes any sense. It's just too long and rambling and never ending.

8. Soldiers Angel- Favorite Angel song ever. Liek many I expected soft Landslide like when I pictured this song. Blown away by her voice, her words, Lindseys harmony and playing. Better then anything they did on Say You Will.

9. Everybody Loves You- Possibly the most decieving clip ever. There's so much going on here. The verses remind me of a song that I can't think of.

10. Ghosts Are Gone- As mentioned above maybe my all time favorite Stevie song. I think the "yeahs" in the middle put it over the top

11. A Stevie Nicks Album where wou can actually enjoy the players!!! It's like that throughout the whole album but it really stood out here. It's something blatently missing from almost her whole solo career, aside from maybe Bella Donna. It's almost Stevie's YMLF

12. Italian Summer- Lives up to the hype. It would be her best album closer if was the actual closer like it should be.

13. Cheaper Then Free- Why Why Why. Better then half of OSOTM and really not bad, but on maybe her greatest album ever why couldn't this not be here so EVERY song could be better then OK. Also, it's impossible to listen to this after Italian Summer.

It reminds me of Here Comes the Rain Again by the Eurythmics and I agree about the deceptiveness of the clip. This probably my favorite song song on the album and I was prepared to be blah about it.
