Speachless and crying tears of joy.
New Orleans is doing that to me. I left my hometown after going through Hurricane Rita with my aunt and uncle (their house was completely demolished ) and haven't been back since. I'm not the crying type but... yeah. She's outdone herself.

Default Wow

Ok, while all the Dutch recordstores have listed as an release for april 28th (tomorrow) I went out for it today after work. No succes...

Much to my surprise I found out that it was online and am listening to it now. Couldn;t hold my patience....can't imagine people want to wait for the actual CD...people, this is a treat, a gift from Stevie to us. Take this change and have a wonderful wednesday-evening.

I'm half way now (Annabel Lee) and like very very what I've heard so far. A Dylanesque ' For what is worth', a wonderful Moonlight (Lady from the Mountain), Annabel Lee (great) and just Lindsey kicks in on Soldiers Angel....very haunting guitarplaying.

This is (for for sure) Stevie's best work since The Wild Heart...

Cannot wait to download it to my iPod.....

I'm really loving FWIW. It reminds me of a cross between Sweet Girl and Space needle, if that makes any sense. Love the lyrics:

I got to sing
I got to dance
I got to be a part of a great romance
Still forbidden

Just think of the quality of the actual release as opposed to the web listening

So just finished listening to the album. Pretty amazing stuff. Way better than TISL.

Who'd have thought today would be such a good day for Mac fans? Stevie's album streaming and Glee's Mac covers leaking. lol

My roommate was studying for a test and asked me to put headphones in and I told her to suck it and go to the library. She's REALLY pissed at me but my headphones are broken so the quality is drastically reduced.

Sorry bitch, first Stevie record in 10 years. You have tests all the time. Suck it up and deal.

Her best since Bella Donna - no question. I had heard good things but I'm still surprised by it! There's an almost Dylan like track (For What It's Worth), a top pop tune (In Your Dreams), kick ass Rock (Ghosts Are Gone) and an acoustic track that sounds like it's from a current Buckingham Nicks album (Soldier's Angel - great harmonies from Lindsey!) There's also a kind of funk/blues/Tom Petty type tune (You May Be The One) and a big, lighters-in-the-air ballad towards the end (Italian Summer). Even with all this it still somehow sounds like "Classic" Stevie. Fantastic!
Boy, your right. It does sound like Classic Stevie Nicks.

Right, ok, so...I've just played "In Your Dreams" all the way through twice.

Important points to note:

I deffo think "In Your Dreams" should've been a first single. It should've also been track 2 with "For What It's Worth" at track 3. "Wide Sargasso Sea" is mind blowing - her vocals are incredible and it has this HUGE roaring atmosphere too it. You can really imagine the house burning to the ground and the passion of these 2 characters all wrapped up in the flames. And it's musically genius! "New Orleans" is gorgeous...as if she were actually singing it from the clouds above the city and another amazing vocal. I'm not crazy about the vocal on "Moonlight" but I love the story and the lyrics and the pace change between the verses and the chorus. "Annabel Lee" is one of my favourites - everything about it is just brilliant! "Soldier's Angel" is a very powerful song lyrically, and musically it reminds me of "Long Distance Winner" a little with the sparseness of it and the harmonies. The opening of "Everybody Loves You" sounds like something Cora Corman would do in "Music & Lyrics". Not a huge fan of this one. "Ghosts Are Gone" is like "Rhiannon" meets "Angel" on speed lol. I love "You May Be The One". With a title like that, you expect a lovey dovey cutsie balad, but it's not at all - it's actually quite a bitter lyric and I love that. I love that after all these years, Stevie is still so open about things in her music and can say so much without saying much at all. "Italian Summer" I wasn't excited about at all on the preview, but I love how it all built up on the full track and wasn't "in your face" about being a love song. I don't like how the track just ends after the big note - I would've preferred for the music to carry on and for Stevie to do some Sara-esque ramblings as the track fades out. All this is rounded off well with "Cheaper Than Free", which is possibly my least favourite on the album.

Favourites:

Annabel Lee
In Your Dreams
You May Be The One
Wide Sargasso Sea
Secret Love

Personally, I still prefer TISL. But that album is so personal for me, there was no way she was going to top it. Musically and lyrically, I know IYD is the better of the 2, but my heart goes with TISL because of the connections I have with it. Congratulations Stevie - with the help of good friends, you have created another masterpiece!

Well, what can I say after first hearing it?
I will be clever lot more after hearing it for the thousand times, as always, but just my first impressions:
I´m not sure It will be my most favourite Stevie´s album.
As always there are songs I like very much, and of course the other songs. Probably my most favourite will be Ghosts Are Gone (yeah, I want it to here live in concert ), and great songs are Wide Sargasso Sea, Moonligth, Italian Summer and also Secret Love, which we know very well yet.

Something I cought, song You May Be The One evokes me something like Rick´s King of Hearts album and also it´s like Janice Joplin style. I really like the beginning of Everybody Loves You, well all that song is very good too.

But there are songs that I don´t think I will ever love, like the second - For What it´s worth, next In Your Dreams, well I´m not in this mood right now, maybe some other time I will like it .

I just need some time, listen to it few times more and I will be more clever.
It´s really great that we have something new, Stevie is ****ing amazing musician.
