Default Erin Lucas Likes Stevie's Style

Style Bistro, April 25, 2011
http://www.stylebistro.com/Erin+Luca...Dresses+Drinks

Every now and then, a fashionista comes along to truly surprise us. We asked guest editor Erin Lucas to name her ultimate style icon and—forget the usual suspects (Jackie O., Jane Birkin, Audrey Hepburn)—it's not who'd you'd expect. She says, "I love Stevie Nicks to death. Anything flowy and fringy and feathered, she can do no wrong in my eyes."

Didn't see that coming, did ya? So, we played a little game with our new '70s-inspired rocker chick friend. What would you wear for drinks at Stevie Nicks' house? As usual, she didn't hesitate:

"A Dolce & Gabbana bodysuit...because they're just so sex. Then, a sheer maxi dress with some really great, big boots. Like, dirty Fiorentini + Baker boots and the little turquoise vintage necklace I just told you about. This is an outfit I'd have to photograph because it looks really good in my head right now, but it might look terrible on. And maybe a shawl or something on top—I'm picturing something hippie. "

But not so fast! Our own Erin Lucas is truly an editor at heart: She emailed us the next day with a change of plans and a picture of her revised look. She says,

"Had a dream last night I was at Stevie Nicks' house party wearing that sheer outfit I described, and I woke up in a cold sweat. Too naked. Wrong outfit. So I sorted through my folder of 'wardrobe inspiration' shots and found the perfect ensemble for such an occasion...I forgot where I pulled the shot from—probably lookbook.nu? Don't know who makes the dress, but I love it."

Thumbs up

Stuff like this I believe helps give Stevie an edge over the pat benatars and the Joan jets. (Besides being in Fleetwood Mac of course) you never hear about anyone in Heart inspiring clothing lines ect. Not hatin, just saying. I hope there really are some new outfits for these solo shows.

One of the differences between her and Stevie ( who also had to defend her weight) is that ann was not really known for her style. Stevie handled it better than her because even when she was heavier it was still the same look and effect. Brilliant really.

Yeah, but Ann had a weight problem for years. It was a huge a problem for her.She basically stopped having male relationships after the 70s. It really affected her life in a big way. Stevie struggled the latter half of her life, and she looks good now. I just think with Ann, genetics has a lot to do with it. Her mom said that big women run in her family. Nancy was an exception.

Yeah, their sister Lynn is really big too. Nancy is the exception. But Ann had lap band surgery in 2002 & lost about 80 lbs. She started looking really good around 2004, but then she slowly started gaining it back. I don't know if she had the band removed or what happened, but as big as she was, I always wondered why she opted for lap band in the first place. People going into weight loss surgery at the size she was really need gastric bypass if they plan on making a serious dent in their size. Lap band is geared more toward people who have less than 100 lbs to lose & she obviously had more than that to lose before surgery. Most insurances are actually not covering lap band anymore because they consider it surgical failure if you lose 50% or less of your excess body weight & lap band only allows you to lose UP to 50%, rarely more than that. I think at her age it would've really helped her a great deal if she could've gotten the weight off & kept it off. Ann is a very physical performer & I think that has been the biggest downfall of Heart since the early 90's when she started to really pack the weight on. It really killed the whole stage presence altogether for her to be unable to express herself physically the way she did in the early days. But for me, I've always thought she was amazing vocally, thick or thin. And although I've lost total interest in their music, with the direction it has taken in the last decade, I never miss their show when they come through town, because unlike Stevie, they DO shake it up & give you a different show everytime they do a new tour. They play the staples like Barracuda, Crazy on You & Magic Man, but they change the instrumentation around each time to keep it fresh & they always throw in many surprises. Sometimes it's Love Alive, sometimes Even it Up, sometimes Kick it Out, you just never know what they're gonna do until they do it. And I LOOOOOVE that about them. I wish Stevie would do the same. I'd love to go to a Stevie show & watch her bust out Nothing Ever Changes, Sable on Blond, Love is Like a River, Long Way to Go, etc & just blow everyone's minds. Even if it's only ONE surprise & then back to the stale boring set, I'd be happy. I think that's why I get so excited over stuff like Face the Promise, even tho it's not her song. It's just SOMETHING different to shake it up a little. So I don't feel like I just paid another $150 for a front row seat to see a rerun of the same show 2-3 years before. But oh well... one can always dream...

It's because she owns it, and continues to sell it to the crowds. It's who she is.
