Exactly. Most of her fans must be skewing towards the 40+ zone, and I can't imagine the majority of them avidly scouring the web to discover whether an artist they like will have a new record out soon. Like Stevie said in Destiny Rules, the demographic that buys FM and Stevie records isn't 'lying around smoking pot and wondering what record to buy next' anymore.
I expect most of her casual fans will hear about this record via TV appearances, or else they'll physically see the album in Walmart or Target or wherever else.
()

Keep in mind Street Angel was a bust so it wasn't much motivation for her to make a new one quickly. TISL was a moderate success but the record company wanted more. If this album does better than expected, we may getting a new album sooner than later. And anymore, Stevie is basically Fleetwood Mac. She is the one who promotes the group and keeps them relevant to the new generation by getting their music on Glee and such. Say You Will didn't do much better than TISL, just a little over 100,000 copies. Had TISL had a hit, she would of surpassed that easy. |

Yeah I know you don't literally make a post about it every 10 seconds. I was making a point through sarcasm. Who cares how many copies it sells. We know it's not going to sell a lot, that's a given. Do your part as a fan, buy your copy and why worry about it? The sales of the record have no bearing on whether Stevie will tour. Record sales only have a bearing on when and if she makes another studio record.
The issue about past sales (TISL selling more if it had a hit) is all speculation. I'm also talking about the Fleetwood Mac brand, as a whole, "outselling" Stevie... tours, records, general interest etc. It will always be that way. As for Stevie being the "face" of Fleetwood Mac that's opinion aintz it. There are many people that like Fleetwood Mac, and don't like Stevie Nicks. Not so many people the other way around.

I was simply making a point with this thread that some albums may be doing well or better than her because they are DIRT cheap. |

Jond - It's not out of the blue. You post the same stuff, repeatedly, in various threads and it gets annoying that's all.
Ryguy, we kinda have one big general rule here... we don't personally insult anyone. Which I never do (well generally never) and try my best not to do. I have nothing against Jondalar... it's just the same-beating-a-dead-horse-seven-wonders posts that get obnoxious.

oh no I understand ya
I knew you werent personally attacking... I was just saying that's the one thing we kinda don't put up with, and it's not what I was doing. I just wanted to point that out, and generally the mods don't step in bickering. But back on topic... The price of Stevie's CD also has nothing to do with the sales. If people want the record, they are going to go out an buy it. Of course I wish Stevie the best of success... but it'd just be unbridled optimism to hope she'll sell more than half a million copies.

Let's keep the Stevie forum dedicated to Stevie's music, folks. Any discussion of board members and their personalities needs to be moved to private messaging or the Chit Chat forum. If anyone feels victimized or sees a member being victimized, contact a moderator (jannieC, michelej1, or myself).

Back on topic. Sales are important. Why do you think Stevie has a Moonlight song and is trying to get her music on Glee. She is no dummy. I think she has been brilliant. She knows she has to find a way to remain relevant and to get to record buyers to listen to her music. She is not doing Dancing with the Stars for no reason. There has been plenty of speculation where this album will land opening weekend. Perfect Lie is right though. Warner Brothers better have some type of promotion when Glee does Rumours and when Stevie is on Dancing With The Stars, or she needs to change record companies and have Fleetwood Mac do the same. Those shows bring in million of viewers and they need to promote her new album heavily. The RIAA certification has a list of top selling artists of all time. Stevie is on the fence. She is still in the Top, but near the very end. They go by single and album sales. They count by Gold, Platinum, Multi-Platinum status. She needs some more gold album or platinum albums. I'm hoping that Crystal Vision and In Your Dreams will go to Gold, adding another million to her total. Timespace is also close to going to Double Platinum, which will add another million and Bella Donna is very, very close to going 5xplatinum, which will add another million to her total. Here is the very last page of the list: DURAN DURAN 12 MIDLER, BETTE 12 LIVE 12 ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA 12 LEWIS, HUEY & THE NEWS 12 COLE, NAT KING 12 TRITT, TRAVIS 12 3 DOORS DOWN 12 COUNTING CROWS 12 SMITH, WILL 12 UNDERWOOD, CARRIE 12 WEBBER, ANDREW LLOYD 12 BAKER, ANITA 12 ALICE IN CHAINS 12 HENLEY, DON 11.5 50 CENT 11.5 COLDPLAY 11.5 ABDUL, PAULA 11.5 VAUGHAN, S.R. & DOUBLE TROUBLE 11.5 JENNINGS, WAYLON 11.5 YOAKAM, DWIGHT 11 STEELY DAN 11 SPICE GIRLS 11 JETHRO TULL 11 YANNI 11 URBAN, KEITH 11 GRAND FUNK RAILROAD 11 LOVERBOY 11 WHITE, BARRY 11 LOPEZ, JENNIFER 11 KRAVITZ, LENNY 10.5 BRANDY 10.5 BUSH 10.5 HARRISON, GEORGE 10.5 SCORPIONS 10.5 DEPECHE MODE 10.5 NINE INCH NAILS 10.5 NICKS, STEVIE 10.5 CYRUS, BILLY RAY 10.5 JUDDS, THE 10.5 SMITH, MICHAEL W. 10.5 ABBA 10.5 MARTIN, RICKY 10.5 MAYER, JOHN 10.5 WILLIAMS, ANDY 10.5 LAVIGNE, AVRIL 10.25 Last edited by Jondalar; 04-25-2011 at 04:52 AM.. |
