Thanks!

This was a slight upgrade for me. It's a slightly smaller file size that mine, at the same kbps and running time, but plays brighter with more airspace and seems to have slightly less speaker-busting crunchy sounds.

Not a demo or an outtake: the promo 45 radio edit of Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You.

That fade edit is really neat! And thanks for the single as the artwork as well!!!

I also think the "Thousand Days" outtake was an upgrade for me. That is one of my Holy Grail songs, like "Julia" from The Wild Heart (which was posted here last month in fantastic sound finally!). So I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for a better Rock A Little "Thousand Days"!

Is this from your transfers your doing? I've never heard this good quality of one. Even though it's not perfect, it's still awesome.

Likewise. I'm always on the elusive quest to put together a Mirror Mirror album, and of course better sounding tracks make the whole proejct more enjoyable.

What would you put on your Mirror, Mirror album? Things like this fascinate me!

Ooh, I hate mediafire being so slow to upload these days...

Glad you asked! Here is my current playlist. It's...in a state of flux, I'm not sure that I like the running order. Each side is about 22-and-a-half-minutes long. Mirror Mirror, Battle of the Dragons, Rock A Little and HAEWAFY are official or promo releases, but the other tracks are outtakes/alternates.

I wanted to include Are You Mine and Reconsider me, but both feel out of place on this particular collection of songs.

Side A is great up until The Nightmare, which seems out-of-order. I haven't found a sequence yet for side B that I like.

Side A:
Mirror Mirror
Chanel Chanel
Love Is Like A River
Running Through The Garden
The Nightmare
She Loves Him Still

Side B:
Battle of the Dragons
Rock A Little
Thousand Days
No Spoken Word
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You

Awesome! Hey, when Chris gets her "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?" versions transferred, maybe one of those will go on your Mirror, Mirror. What about "One More Big Time Rock And Roll Star"?

I'm working on a darker Rock A Little, centered around "Night Gallery", which is similar to the song "Rock A Little" for me. Let me work on it a little more...

I love Night Gallery. And yes, it shouldn't be too much longer on the tape transfers of HAEWAFY.

It's hard for me to decide on "Prettiest Girl In The World". This version was only 128, but it's not distorted or warbly.

Yes. I imagine the initial shelved recordings to be even darker than what ended up on RAL.
I would definitely add "At The Fair" in my mix and maybe "Something Exquisite" even though it bares strong resemblances in melody & structure to "No Spoken Word", but its still a good song. "But if you do not run the race ~ How will you know? If you do not run it ~ then you cannot win it, ever!"

~Mirror Mirror~

Running Through The Garden
Love is Like A River
She Still Loves Him
Night Gallery
At The Fair
Battle Of The Dragon

Jimmy Come On Back
She Calls Him Missing
Chanel Chanel
Something Exquisite
City Of Hope
One More Big Time Rock n'Roll Star
Mirror Mirror

I excluded any RAL tracks, because there is enough material to have had 2 entire records - one in 84' and another in 85'

I've tried to keep my playlist to the length that an album released in 1984/85 would have been, but it's been hard to limit the song choices.

I left off At The Fair and Night Gallery because both sound like demos, and no versions have circulated that sound like almost-complete studio tracks...

I don't think Jimmy Come Back would have been recorded if Jimmy had not walked off the project, so....would this song even exist in a world where Mirror Mirror was released?

Something Exquisite and One More Big Time Rock n'Roll Star - I love these songs, but not as much as Thousand Days and the RAL tracks I used. Hard choices!

If the Mirror Mirror album had been released, I don't think RAL (the album)would have ever have happened. I'm fairly certain that No Spoken Word and The Nightmare and Rock A Little would be there as songs, but....the rest of them seem unlikely, with the exception of I Sing For The Things.

I'm guessing that Tied Up In Promises, Imperial Hotel, Talk To Me, I Can't Wait, Some Become Stranger, Sister Honey - maybe even HAEWAFY - none would have been recorded (or maybe even written) if Mirror Mirror had happened as planned. These all feel like 'emergency' tracks: Oh noes! Jimmy is gone and we have to start over and still get an album out reasonable quickly! What can we use and who can collaborate to make this happen!?

Ah, speculation!

Excuse my ignorance here, but exactly why did Jimmy walk out on Stevie and 'Mirror Mirror'/'Rock A Little'?

As the story goes, her life and antics were just too crazy for him to continue on the project. Too many drugs, too little work going on. Stevie was difficult to deal with and he just threw his hands up and left.

I've also read that it was a mutual parting of ways.
