Thumbs up RTTG Live

Hey, has anyone else heard the live version of "Running Through the Garden" posted on burnish.net? It's from the Columbus show _ the only show where it was performed. You know, I'm not a big fan of the song itself (too 80s) but after hearing the MP3, I can't figure out why it was dropped from the set! Stevie sounds wonderful _ she hits all the notes with ease and clarity _ and Lindsey does a fantastic guitar solo at the end.
Anyway, download it while you can! And thanks to Tracy for posting it.

I heard the Columbus RTTG MP3 as well...and I agree, Stevie sounded great. I actually think it comes off a bit better live. Although I enjoy the studio version as well, (despite that incredibly 80s sound....just can't help but love it!!)
I guess maybe it's the confidence thing with Stevie that others were mentioning, but you know she did a lot of new stuff on the TISL tour and I thought that was the best part of the show.

I heard it in person and don't know why it was dropped. she was more into it than Rhiannon that night, IMO.

I agree that the live version sounds better than the album. As I listened to it for the first time, I was puzzled that they'd dropped it.

But I got to wondering . . . are their set list decisions based at least partly on voice strain? Maybe they're putting in a little insurance to make sure Stevie's and Lindsey's voices make the whole tour.

Just a thought.

I would've assumed that that was the rationale, but there's been a lot of talk about 'Stevie's confidence/willingness' to add new songs to setlists, so it's hard to say.
All I can say is, I was pleasantly shocked to hear how she replicated the album vocals in the live version, and that we owe a lot to whoever taped that bootleg, and Keith for sharing it, and Tracy for ripping and disseminating it!

I'm really mad. When I heard running through the Garden was cancelled, I flpped out. That is a great sound. Some of you guys said it had an incredible 80's sound. What about the synth in THROWN DOWN. That is really 80's.

Did anyone notice, this is really weird, did anyone ever read THE SECRET GARDEN. RTTG is kinda similar to the plot, don't you think?

Yes the synth riff in the final TD cut is a nice touch, and nice n retro. (Ah, Lindsey )
RTTG is actually based on a story called Rappacini's Daughter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, so you weren't far off.
Nancy (SodaScouts) is an authority on this - she posted a link to the story online once.

Your right...it did sound great that night. And I also thought that she was not so into Rhiannon. I am glad that she is much more into it now...but I still will miss RTTG live. We were lucky!

Am I the only one who wasn't impressed. Stevie sounded lifeless and very unsure of herself. I didn't see her so maybe I'm totally off here, but listening on Burnish.com, I just felt that Stevie did her other songs much better.

I think she needed more rehearsal and maybe more confidence, but in that performance, she seems to lack both...?
