For the record, I cannot stand the version of "Destiny" that made it onto the boxed set. And I did not love it in concert. But the harmonies on the album track are beautiful.
"Kick It" could use some of Stevie's trademark layered vocals late in the song - it just feels like that's missing.
"Love is Like a River" is really good, but would be great if it had a better bridge, IMO.
"Jane" is better with the piano, but the vocal is better on the album version.
And I do like the demo of "Greta" with the more pronounced drum track, even though I dislike the album version.

My least favorites (also my least favorites in Stevie's entire catalog, btw) are listen to the rain and Love Is Like A River

I love Listen To The Rian, one of the best tracks on there. Ialso think her version of Just Like A Woman is a guilty pleasure.

I really, really can't stand Jane. I have to stop it as soon as it starts if I've not skipped. It's not just becauise of the chimpanzee lyric, the rest of the lyrics are dreadful too. Not keen on Destiny either, too sappy for me.

Stevie's voice on "Just Like A Woman" is so beautiful! Not crazy about the Bob Dylan song, though. But Stevie makes it okay for me.

I think I'm the only one who LOVES "Docklands"!!!!! Stevie's voice is just so incredible on this one, especially the ending vamps! "Hold on.... Give me your hand!" Plus, those cool keyboards...

BTW, Betsy Cook's original does not have the same lyrics as Stevie on the bridge, as well as the final verse ~ are those uncredited "Additional lyrics by Stevie Nicks"?

No, I love it too Despite it seeming to be an unusual song choice for Stevie - the mystic - It works on this record with such disparate themes and more simplistic direction. Docklands is a solid song, while Stevie does her magic, as only she can, on the vocals. When I bought this record on release day, it was one of my favorites and it sounded like a single to my ears at the time. For the most part I like Street Angel and listen to the songs often, I just think it suffered from some unimaginative arrangements and production. With a few different song selections, and some more tweaking, the album could have been really good. And Stevie's vocals on SA have never a problem for me.

Destiny - I prefer the SA version over Enchanted's, but nothing tops the WH outtake
Inspiration - Another track that should have made the final cut, it makes the record stronger.
Street Angel - I did not come to fully appreciate this song, until hearing the "Enchanted version, I did not care for it many years....until 98'. David Crosby's harmonies should be a little more prominent in the mix.
Listen To The Rain It's unfortunate she didn't use the Jon Bon Jovi produced TS outtake. The production/arrangement & song structure is heads and tails stronger.
The record ends for me here. The remaining songs are complete fails:



Unconditional Love- this song could have been stronger with a different arrangement, perhaps keeping the acoustic arrangement of the beautiful outtake, and working out the cringey chorus. In keeping the song simple and acoustic, along with some structual changes, I think this song could have closed the album.
Jane - the piano demo is better, The final recording should have kept that feel. But it still should have not made the cut, and been a B-side, swap in "Inspiration" instead.
Just Like A Woman- DAMN Bob Dylan for showing up at the studio and playing harmonica, otherwise I don't think this song would have been included.
God's Garden Interesting song concept, but ultimately it goes nowhere. Total snooze. What the hell were they thinking. The song & Stevis's vocals need more pulse. This one is dead on arrival.
If You Were My Love-happy to hear a fully arranged version of this song, but glad this version never make the record. This song deserves a proper send off. This version failed.
I Call You Missing - I can only wonder about the possibilities.....

Interesting to note, Rolling Stone gave this album 3 stars- I believe. Buried in their August 94' installment, 2 months after SA release. It's interesting because, even though it was just a small, couple paragraph review. It was decent. (I need to dig this out, I cannot find it anywhere on the net), considering they slayed Wild Heart through OSOTM.

Love is Like a River- I was driving and the Ipod was on shuffle and it came on and it really pumped me up.I have seen people hatin' on 'Unconditional Love' on other threads,I think it is a really good song.

I just checked, the copy of "Kick It" I have with the extra keyboard part is muffled sounding - I'd rate it @C quality. I'm always on the hunt for a better copy of that version, It's my favorite. If anyone has a clear and clean version. Please share it.

BLUE DENIM!! Love Mirror Mirror too but the b-side version isn't nearly as good as the demos. Was Real Tears meant for this album too? Sounds unbearably dated but still a nice song...

"Mirror, Mirror" is an outtake from Rock A Little, recorded in 1984. "Real Tears" is an outtake from The Other Side Of The Mirror, recorded in 1988.

Yes, the US single of "Blue Denim", but "Mirror, Mirror" is still a Rock A Little outtake. this is not a new Street Angel version, but a 1984 recording from Rock A Little.

Yes, The 84 recorded version of Mirror, Mirror was mixed and slapped on the B-side to Blue Denim, only available on the single cassette. I recall it feeling very odd and jarring at the time, such a different era. But Stevie no doubt wanted people to hear this song. It's just so sad she did not include it on Enchanted.
