What has made each FM member happiest/unhappiest in the SYW experience? Opinions?

Lindsey:
happiest:
Being able to rock out & get standing ovations
The confidence that he will now be able to put out a solo album if he chooses
unhappiest:
Feeling like he had to wait for Stevie to thank him for what he did in production of her songs
Feeling like his more artistic SYW songs are not getting the general respect they deserve

Stevie:
happiest:
Getting positive reviews for her vocals in particular, along with songwriting
Signs of (friendly) affection from Lindsey
unhappiest:
The fan club experience
The absence of Christine (and possibly having to sit on the story behind her absence)
Her aging body

Mick:

Making money
unhappiest:
Having to face the wrath of fans & Stevie (and Lindsey???) over the fan club experience, including the minor embarrassment of her absence from the video footage and the spectre of lawsuits

I'm going to answer the topic a bit later but I had to slap you with a double standard summons.
Stevie's not the only one with an aging body. Even if it is (allegedly) giving her some trouble right now--the guys are no spring chickens and appearance wise, she looks marvelous.

OK--I'll answer the rest now.
I think the downside for all of them has been, perhaps, a segment of their audience will always expect nothing but a nostalgia act when attending concerts and it might be a little disconcerting and disheartening to see people get up for booze or bathroom breaks when the new songs are played.

Another downside, if they are paying attention at all, has to be the fan club debacle.

On the upside--
Lindsey IS getting massive (and well deserved) recognition for his work. Hey---some people might still not be completely aware of who he is when they enter the arena but they sure as hell know who he is when they leave.

Stevie is getting her BTM wish--to keep singing with Lindsey in some form years after their collaboration was supposed to be over and done with forever. And I think she has really done a great job on this tour so far and doesn't have the pressure she probably feels when she's up there all by herself.

Mick has to be happy that this legacy is continuing.

And I think John probably feels that way, too. I think, in many ways, they may think of themselves as almost background musicians and to have such a long, fruitful and distinguished career and to look out at that audience and still see all those faces must be something else.

Hope you aren't annoyed with me Jake but you know, like the lady says, "I'm getting older, too," (and a little crotchety about MY aging body;-)

The absence of Christine --with the exception of Lindsey, I think they all do miss her, but I don't think there is a "real story" here--she just was sick of the whole touring thing.

I'm not annoyed, since I trust that you will go back to reread the post and undeerstand what I meant.

I'm not asking for OUR opinions of what's wrong with each member.

I'm asking what made them unhappy.

Obviously men get older, too.

However, Lindsey is not the one who has/had a sore hip. Stevie is (or was). An article mentioned this. If an article mentioned that Lindsey's bones were bothering him, I'd be posting that that was making him unhappy.

Lindsey is not the one saying that his current situation "sucks". Stevie said that in an interview when asked about menopause. She speaks of fighting her situation, of having to choose whether she wants to get older. Perhaps you could make the case that the press has the double standard, since nobody is asking Lindsey about the condition of his body. But I contend that writing about Stevie being unhappy with her aging body is not MY double standard. Stevie said so, hence it is fair that I conclude that she is unhappy over it. Again, please reread what I wrote.

And I guess maybe my beef is mainly with the press. While menopause, for example, is a perfectly natural state of being--it's rude to ask about it. They don't ask men "how's your prostate?" or if they need Viagra yet. And I'm not much of a feminist. It's just kind of rude to point out a woman's age and state of her sexual/reproductive system while ignoring the same in men.

But, upon rereading my post, I didn't exactly get to the point (which happens with my ramblings and I do apologize). My point would be that the Say You Will experience, IMO, would help Stevie with whatever issues she may be experiencing (behind the scenes) because how can she be unhappy when she is not sitting at home counting her aches and pains but is out there rocking as hard as the young chicks and getting fully appreciated? The fact that she gets a mini-ovation over singing "I'm getting older, too," is kind of an affirmation that yes, she may be getting older but, damn, she's making us proud because she hasn't lost it at all. Not one bit. I would think it would make her happier about her life situation, not the opposite.

Anyway, just wanted to clear up my own muddy thoughts.

I disagree a little and agree a lot.

Stevie is her own harshest critic, so I can see her still feeling down even when she gets a standing ovation every night. It's just the way she is.

I agree about the press being unfair.

I agree that the tour can do her good. She said in that interview that she has to fight getting older since she has this major tour to do. It does give her a healthy focus.
