I kinda wonder if they didn't ask Heart & maybe they were already scheduled somewhere else & couldn't make it? It just seemed so out of place to have SNP & SS there, with the rest... although if Tina were there, the main focus of the show would've been on her, NOT Stevie, so it's probably for the best she wasn't there...

Yes, I would have loved to see Heart on Opah too. To me, they do define the 70's and 80' or at least have Debbie Harry included. Heart was on "The Talk" earlier this week though and they sounded great!!

Sidenote: I loved Stevie's "shocked" reaction to what Sheryl Crow said about having children would destroy her song writing capabilities. You know Stevie really said that to her or she wouldn't have acted so thoroughly appalled!! Too funny...

That's too bad they didn't close the show with "Secret Love." Stevie was magical!

OK, I just saw both clips. First, I have to say that Stevie did a great job with both songs. I really loved listening to them. Second, did anyone else notice that the cut the solo in the middle of Landslide and that she isn't singing the last "Well the Landslide will bring it down" at the end. " Did they do that just so that the song would be shorter for TV? Jeesh. Second, did anyone else notice that Stevie pronounced "can't" in Secret Love? It sounded very British. At first I didn't quite trust my ears, but then she did it a second time. It was really weird.

Anyway, I seriously seriously loved the songs and the interview. 2 big thumbs up from me

Kevin

of all the things sheryl could have said about stevie, within the short few minutes they had of television exposure, and she has to go and embarrass/irk stevie about the kids/song-writing thing. this was oprah, national television, international, even. huge, popular, big -time oprah. with many mom viewers. good job, sheryl. :s

Yes, I agree that it wasn't nice to say something like that to Stevie and in a public forum such as a national talk show. Even if she was joking but it was wrong for Sheryl to embarrass Stevie like that. Stevie looked hurt and shocked that Sheryl said it too so I am glad she defended herself.

It wasn't a nice thing to say at all, but on the other hand, Stevie looked so cute trying to defend herself. Maybe by being an obsessed fan I can't put myself into the position of an average viewer who doesn't particularly care about Stevie, but I could NEVER found her guilty of saying those words. She looked so surprised, and had a child like innocence in her eyes saying: "I did not... Sheryl Crow!". God I love this woman

Oh, and I don't think that she was offended by Sheryl saying that. I believe that they really care deeply for each other. They were holding hands all the time. I bet they make much much more inappropriate jokes all the time. Sheryl often publicly makes jokes on her own expense too.

That would of been awesome! I hope our fellow Monger, Nikayla knows that we all think she did a great job with her facebook page to get the woman of rock on Oprah. Atleast Joan & Stevie made it on!

Speaking of Joan, maybe the reason Oprah wasn't 'all over her' like Pat was that Joan was all sweaty I bet! Maybe she had to leave early and that's why she wasn't a part of the finale.

Oh, & yes, Heart was FAB on 'The Talk' with performing two classic's and the sit down interview! That 'Barracuda' question is getting old, though!

I still beleive that someday Ann & Nancy will perform or record with Stevie!!

Oh I personally would not be surprised if Stevie said something to that effect. I just imagine Sheryl bitchin about not having kids and Stevie telling her it is for the best because kids can ruin your career! But I did love Stevie's response However, I hated that Oprah really didn't say anything to Stevie about not having kids. I would have loved to hear Stevie use her "I didn't want to be a half ass mom and a half ass rockstar" line on O!

Also it's always interesting (if annoying) to listen to Stevie reconstruct her history in front of audiences who don't know her so well. For devoted fans, it's an insult to our intelligence when she sits on Oprah (and in other interviews) and says she always knew she'd still be working as a rock musician at 62. I think she knows exactly the lie she's telling & wants to market herself as a rock survivor who would never give up on her true loves: her art and fans. But I'm probably not the only one who still remembers feeling upset back in (August? September?) 1991 when she did that national radio interview for TimeSpace & declared (in between rants about Mick & rights to "Silver Springs) that she would be gradually easing herself entirely out of the music business over the next 5 years so she could work as a painter. That felt like a slap in the face to those of us who stood by her during the Klonopin years (not that we knew about the Klonopin itself) and were hoping for better music & performances in the future.

Umm, I seem to recall a 'Bella Donna' era radio interview of her saying that she would be still doing this at 60. It's on youtube somewhere. Correct me if I'm wrong. As a Stevie fan, I find your statement a little harsh and there for I'm insulted.
