This was much better than I expected.
I was pleasantly surprised that Oprah, a big Tina Turner fan, called Stevie the Queen of Rock. And hey, they made it through the whole segment with only one mention of Stevie’s drug addictions & no mention of her weight loss in the 1990s. So different from her other daytime talk appearances. Bravo. On the other hand, I’m disappointed that so little attention was paid to the new album. And that Stevie did not get to discuss her visits with & songs for the troops. I think the Oprah audience would have eaten that up. When Stevie started her old spiel about working jobs to support Lindsey – this time in front of a huge TV audience – I imagined Lindsey screaming at the TV like Billy Crystal in “Throw Momma from the Train”, when ex-wife Kate Mulgrew sat next to Oprah mean-mouthing him. ![]() ![]() Stevie did not seem nervous for this interview, & I suspect Sheryl had a lot to do with that. BTW, the lighting people sure kept Sharon & Lori in the shadows for “Secret Love”. - Jake |

Great show in general - enjoyed seeing everyone (really like Pat and Joan, too) ...not so sure Avril (who I do like) and Miley (yuck) fit in, but Sheryl did a good job, as usual, imho, with Stevie... Joan really looked to me like she stepped right out of 1989 (a complement...)
Stevie is leagues above everyone else...she looked and sounded fantastic...and was quite amusing in the q&a ... but really? She's been doing Dreams since the very first FM tour? : ) that's ok, we forgive... and ... uh...there were only 4 Sledge Sisters up there, sister????? Loved Secret Love live! should have aired on the teevee, though! ![]() |

I agree with you! She didn't look that thrilled that Sheryl said that even if she was joking about it. I felt Oprah sort of dissed Joan Jett once she was done talking to her. I watched it over and over again last night and well, I get a feeling that Oprah kept hugging Miley and ignored Joan so maybe, that's why Joan left soon after and didn't mingle with the rest of the gals. It looked sort of awkward to me with Joan standing there and Oprah is having a lovefest with Miley.Wondering why Pat Benatar was sitting for her whole segment as she sang and talked with Oprah and Avril? Even when Oprah came to talk to her after they sang she never got up from her chair. I love the fact that she has been with her husband for over 30 years!!!! Too many questions. haha Stevie was wonderful though and it was great to see her and Sheryl having fun as friends. Oprah seemed to really like Stevie too!!

I totally agree with you about the Joan Jett and Miley Cyrus thing. I thought it seemed like an awkward interaction all around. Oprah just kept hugging Miley and it seemed like Joan was just kind of standing there almost in the background. I'm not a huge Avril Lavigne fan, but I thought she did seem very gracious and appreciative to have been included in the show (as I think both she and Miley should feel! I mean... what an HONOR to be included in a show honoring the women legends of Rock 'n' Roll?!) Naturally, I think all of us Stevie fans would of course have hoped the entire show would have been completely focused on our enchanting gypsy queen of rock, but regardless, I'm so happy Stevie was finally on Oprah. And I think someone mentioned it before but, based on watching those Behind the Scenes episodes on OWN, it seems like they have been extremely selective about their guests and it is an honor to be included in this 25th season. I thought Stevie looked great; that little part with Sheryl during the interview was hilarious! I totally remember hearing that Stevie had said something like that to her awhile ago. It was so funny. I SOOO wish there was a way to see the rest of the interview that didn't make the cut! I'm incredibly grateful to those Ledgies who were lucky enough to be able to attend the taping for giving the rest of us all of the important deets, but I'd still love to see the interview in its entirety. Hopefully this show will be included in the Behind the Scenes show that's on OWN!

That was their mom who they said passed. I think there have always only been 4 sisters in the band.

I think Stevie's performance of Secret Love was pretty darn good! Very powerful vocal. I love the opening arm gesturing. She seemed totally committed to this song. I'm glad she hit a home run with this song on Oprah since it's a great promotional vehicle for her!!
Sidenote: I loved Stevie's "shocked" reaction to what Sheryl Crow said about having children would destroy her song writing capabilities. You know Stevie really said that to her or she wouldn't have acted so thoroughly appalled!! Too funny...

![]() Love that Stevie had the boots on the whole time, even though it looked like she kept reaching around & holding her back with her left hand, like it might've been hurting her. |
