WOW, this board was getting so intense for awhile, that I couldn't stop reading posts to actually watch the video. BUT. Now that I have...

When I heard the clip, I was SOOO let down. But after hearing/watching the song in it's entirety, I kind of like it. Stevie looks totes-adorbs in the video, and the production of the song is pretty tight.

I WOULD however prefer this to be on Dave's album and not Stevie's. From the bits I've heard from the Blackbird Diaries, it fits perfectly. From the snippets we've heard of IYD, it doesn't seem like it follows the continuity of the record.

But thats just me.

Honestly, I'm quite fine with both the song and video. I'm going to enjoy all the new stuff I can get my eyes and ears around. After 30 years of being a fan, I know I have no objectivity when it comes to her music...just bring it on.

Your ____."

Once you start, you can't stop. Thanks Stevie!

I've listened to it maybe 4 times now, trying to get the lyrics--lyrics matter, especially if it's not something with a driving beat that grabs the listener. I'm not certain I have all the lyrics correct. Can someone check me on this:

What’s cheaper than free? You and me.
What’s better than alone? Going home.
What does money not buy? You and I.
What’s not to feel when love is real?

What’s faster than a fast car? A beating heart.
What’s deeper than a deep well? The love into which I fell.
More important than freedom? Being needed.
More exciting than high fashion? High passion.

What’s brighter than a smile? You child. You child.
What’s brighter than a smile? You child. You child. You child. You child.

What’s warmer than a sun-drenched land? Your hand.
Your hand. Your hand.

I don't quite understand what to do with this song--to me it's kind of pedestrian. Sweet, in it's own way, but it has no excitement or inspiration. Faster than a fast car? A beating heart? Maybe in a dangerous arrhythmia. Can someone bring in the defibrillator.

It's not something I would have probably purchased, but, of course, we didn't have to buy it. Again, it's sweet. I enjoyed seeing the video.

I think it's ok. At least the steel guitar is turned down, behind the main one. (forgive my music terminology).

I'm glad I know for sure that there are better and stronger songs on the album. Maybe they released this song/video now so Dave gets credit and doesn't get lost in the shuffle when the album and other songs are released?

Please accept the fact that she may not be the mystical "witch-like" darling earth girl that we once knew and loved all the time. She's "growing older too". Her thought, attitudes, and tastes change. Change with her and just appreciate the fact she still makes quality music.
AMEN!

i love the video but not the song so much. i dont know maybe it will grow on me but its just kinda there if that makes any sense. the video does make it alot easier to listen to but i would probably skip the song on the cd. i do love the parts when stevie is in tap shoes and when dave is hugging her and they are dancing at the end but whats up with sheryl and them sitting around the table in witches hats or whatever it is that they have one? lol thats hysterical!

I been emotional lately with a sick family member. This song just envelopes me like Has Anyone Ever Written. I just love it.

I think that's why this song is so effective, which sometimes you don't see (or hear) unless you are living in a situation where the lyrics hit home. This song pretty much sums up what true love is about, I don't care how simple it sounds, sometimes simple is the best.

I figured out another reason why I am really not in love with the song. It reminds me of when a mother coos a child to sleep. Great for 2 and under IMO but not for adults. Would be a nice lullaby. Could totally see our Mother Goose singing this little # on Sesame Street

Exactly. I played the song for a coworker who has gone through a lot taking care of his ill wife. He teared up on one listen.

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

aww sorry to hear that. i hope your family member gets well soon. there are some songs that i just cry when i hear them because they take me back to some crazy times in my life. when i hear has anyone ever written it reminds me of one of stevie's solo tours when she ended with the song. i think it was the first time i ever cried at a concert. it was soo good!!

Sorry to hear about your family member Jondalar. Am glad the song comforts you. Fell like a bit of an arse considering the circumstance. Just realize what I am saying is all about my personal feelings for the song.
