It's also one of the most blatently honest songs ever written. It's better than That's Alright, but that's a great song too.

Some people's idea of "country" is way off. I had a friend once who, I swear, thought anything with an acoustic instrument anywhere in the song, was "country."

I consider anything with a steel guitar to be country. After The Glitter Fades is definitely country, as is That's Alright. I think Leather & Lace and The Highway Man even border on country.

If Stevie or Fleetwood Mac albums were getting released as of todays country music,Stevie or FM would slip right in there with Lady Antebellum,Kieth Urban,Sugarland and Zac Brown Band. Todays country sounds more like light rock then grannies back in the 50' to the 80's. which I do like better then todays.

Those are DEF. country. I always thought that too. Wasn't there a rumor a while back that Stevie would like to record a country cd ?

I've come to like/love all of her songs - even her clunkers. The only songs that comes to mind are "When I See You Again" and "The Second Time." Both painfully strive to be Landslide-like ballards, but miss the mark in so many ways!

*Anything* with a steel guitar?

ATGF, Leather & Lace, and The Highwayman are all at least country-ish, I agree. That's Alright is pushing it, tho. Is that really your objection to That's Alright?

Anyway, I like country. Not contemporary, tho.

I have to admit, I really do not get this visceral reaction people have to country.

Same here. Dismissing a whole genre is crazy to me. I think Stevie does it really well too.

But I love country(classic stuff mostly), so I'm a little biased.

I'm a country/bluegrass/alt-country fan and am happy with most of it but, like any genre, there was a period that I couldn't stand a lot of what was produced. When people like Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Travis Tritt etc appeared. Now there's Toby Keith - arggh! That's really not for me. I prefer people from that time who have evolved, like Rosanne Cash.

^ I agree, those guys are just posers, IMO. They gave country a bad image, and now some folks think country music means wearing a cowboy hat and boots and singing with a twang.
