But I know what you mean; I got a huge Eurythmics vibe from it, like their 1989 song "Angel"... Or "The Miracle Of Love".
Kind of off topic but does anybody know if Dave produced the song "Missionary Man?". It's one of my favorite songs of all time. I'm assuming so since it's a Eurythmics song and if so I worship him more than ever because that song is the shi*t!

*I just answered my own question and yes, he apparently produced all of the Eurythmics songs (duh). Now I'd loooooooooooove to see Stevie rockin' 0ut to Missionary Man with Dave. I'd be a very happy camper if any of Stevie's new songs had this kind of rockin' vibe.

Default Annabel Lee

Doesn't Edgar Allen Poe have to get a writing credit for Annabel Lee? It's his poem...

So can we assume that what we heard in the trailer was the chorus, or maybe the bridge of the song?

I'd be surprised if he does not get some kind of credit. Not sure if his poem is now public domain. It very well could be, and be open to adaptations & translations and used for derivative works without permission from the copyright owner.

Listened to the "Cheaper Than Free" clip on the Rhino Records website. I'm still not impressed. Still, I will wait and pass judgement (ahem...I mean, form an opinion) when I actually get to hear the entire song.

It's weird to think that this might be a fantastic Stevie album, but have the weakest opening and closing tracks. Hmmmmmm...

From the clips we got a while ago I really can't imagine myself ever liking this song and it could be the dud of the album but that's o.k. because I already know there are other gems so not to worry!

I really wanted her to ditch this song too, and just let Dave have it for The Blackbird Diaries. It's the song clip out of everything, including Everybody Loves You, that I cannot get into...esp. from the extended clip we heard of recent with some eye poping & jaw droppin' lyrics. I hope my impression is very wrong and I see what Stevie and WBR obviously liked about the song to have to have it on IYD.

Are you talking about Dave's version of Cheaper Than Free, or is there a snippet out there of Stevie's Cheaper Than Free that I haven't heard yet? I remember hearing a pretty long clip of Dave's version somewhere online, and was still pretty "meh" about it myself.

Click on the Rhino Records link on the first post of this thread. Then click on the speaker box next to "Cheaper Than Free" in the track listing. It plays about 30 seconds of the song. It has one for "Secret Love" as well, but none of the others.

Hi Guys,
Just to comment on the songwritng topic.. New Orleans is neither written with Dave OR Mike, it's actually co-written with Neale Heywood (he also co-wrote "Come" on SYW). I hope that helps!

God, I hope this doesn't mean it is the next single.
