Before the show had started I met a Ledgie named London who recognized me from the photo I posted and we had a very nice conversation. In front of the boxoffice I recognized Macfanforever from a pic of himself he posted two years ago and he and I had an enjoyable conversation.
The absolute highlight for me was when a distinguished looking gentleman approached me during the break between Stevie and Rod's shows and introduced himself as Nikolaij. God had answered my request and I finally got to meet him in person.
He told me to follow him to the merchandise booth so he could buy me that t-shirt which he said he would do if he ever saw me at the show. You know a lot of people say they're gonna do something and never do it, but he did. He suggested he should buy me the red hoodie and I was so touched. He spent $60.00 on me!!! Then he went out for a smoke and asked me to wait in front of a certain consession stand for him, which I did, for two songs, and then I had to get back inside because I didn't want to miss Stevie's duets with Rod.
I just wanted you to know Kol, that I did wait for you but you didn't come back. And I appreciate very much the hoodie you bought for me. I wore it outside while waiting for valet to return with my car and it kept me warm, from the cold wind of it all. Besides seeing the Queen of rock and roll and being with some good friends, meeting you Kol was my great experience of the evening.

One of my guests took some nice pics which I will post as soon as they are e-mailed to me.

If I remember more, I will post it later.

Greetings! I went to the show at Mohegan Sun last night and had a FABULOUS time!!!
I had the pleasure of meeting Viv, a charming soul, and wish we had more time to talk!

High Priestess Stevie cast a powerful spell last night. Her vocals and beauty were intoxicating - as always - but the true magick of the evening for me was witnessing a level of confidence and sexiness that I haven't seen her display for many moons now. She was truly relaxed and enjoying herself - no nerves on this night. Stevie shined brightly, her band played brilliantly, and I can't wait (hoping!) for a CT/New England IYD tour date!

Highlights of the set: Secret Love (the video is VERY cool), GDW, Sorcerer, Rhiannon, Edge, and Love Is (not a dry eye in the section I was sitting in).

The only low of the evening was the absence of Stevie playing tambourine.

With decades-old heydays and sandpaper vocal signatures in common, Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks are naturals for a double bill. In practice Sunday night at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, the pairing was a nostalgia showcase, spun by each artist in a notably different way.

Headliner Stewart fostered a party atmosphere with a strong whiff of camp around its edges, reveling in the role of '60s-style lounge denizen as he paraded forth in a shiny orange dinner jacket, shiny black shoes and spiky peroxide-altered hair. He has extended his recording career with middle-of-the-road soul interpretations of familiar favorites and the American Songbook, and kicked off his show with a lively push through someone else's hit, grappling gamely with the chugging "Love Train."

Nicks featured recent material alongside stalwart hits, with the throbbing "Secret Love" and powerful "If Anyone Falls." Her singing retains its singular nasal quality, but has little flex or finesse leaving its high end sharp but not particularly expressive in the Fleetwood Mac hit "Dreams."

The contrast between the two singers was particularly evident when Nicks joined Stewart for a pair of songs in his set, among them a sprightly "Young Turks" in which his singing was cool and genial, hers hearty but stiff. He toyed with tunes while easing through his performance, shrugging off his 66 years to play the good-natured sex symbol as he swiveled into the supple flow of "The First Cut is the Deepest."

Nicks' stagecraft began and ended with the slow-motion twirling within "Stand Back," fluffing one of several shawls that remain her particular accoutrement. The toughest part of her package to swallow was her blunt vocal instrument; she had to dig deep to pull anything out of a stripped-down acoustic reading of "Landslide," and sounded like she was in the right place only when hammering at her outsized closer "Edge of Seventeen."

Stewart hurling himself at "Downtown Train" while his 13-piece band filled ample sonic space. A country lilt from decorative fiddle and acoustic guitar lines colored "Reason to Believe," while Stewart leapt into a sturdy Chuck Berry vibe to rasp gamely across the horn-peppered "Sweet Little Rock and Roller."

Stewart changed jackets multiple times, ultimately landing in a glistening purple suit as he plowed through the treetops of his deep hit catalog, booting soccer balls into the audience while barking the sturdy "Hot Legs," and turning the mandolin-trimmed "Maggie May" into a lively sing-along. His encore of "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" was offered with an amusing slice of bravado that came with at least some expectation he wanted everyone to believe it remained true.

That review was really in The Courant!!!??? You have got to be kidding me. I thought Stevie sounded phenomenal last night. Yea, like I said in the other thread...it would be cool if she was more playful with her audience like Rod is, but that is awfully harsh towards Stevie's vocals.

Pictures are AWESOME....never really seen that side of her before on stage...I was getting board at seeing the same old images.

If anyone has video of Dreams from this show could they post it....It is always so cute to see Stevie's reaction when she flubs a line.....
It always make me laugh to no end.

I was there too and enjoy the show very much.The sound was better then last years show at MGM Grand at Foxwoods.Stevie look great.I love her new song.The short set move right along and I'm shock they cut out EO17 opening out.Also there was no band intos too.Rod was awesome and his band was great,I would go the see him next time.Before the show I bumped into Viv and had a nice chat with him.Now I cant wait for the AC show in May.See all of you there.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. - There have been some intriguing pairings of stars to try and light up box offices during the economic downturn, and you can add the double bill of Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks to the list.

The two veteran singers brought their "Heart & Soul" tour to a full house at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday night for a nostalgia-filled night courtesy of two of the most distinctive vocalists of their era.

Both in their 60s, the pair focused on familiar, crowd friendly-fare during their individual sets and surprisingly did only a couple of songs together.

However, one thing was certain when all was said and done: Stewart was the headliner, and it's a good thing that he was. His electrifying stage presence and high-energy performance made Nicks' hour-and-20-minute opening set seem pale in comparison.

The Fleetwood Mac songstress fronted a seven-piece band and was accompanied by two female backing singers as she moved through songs such as "Dreams," "If Anyone Falls," and the harder edge of "Gold Dust Woman," while the pulsating "Secret Love," a new song from her forthcoming album "In Your Dreams" was well received by the crowd.

The mystical enchanter from the 1970s and '80s surfaced occasionally as Nicks drew shrieks from the audience when she started spinning with her shawl wrapped around her in "Stand Back," while classics like "Rhiannon," and the touching take of "Landslide" (the latter complete with a video backdrop showing plenty of images of the singer with her father) brought the set to an emotional peak.

Unfortunately, "Edge of Seventeen" was long and rather anticlimactic while the encore ballad "Love Is," was positively deflating.

Stewart, in contrast, was in a mood to party. He also offered plenty of eye candy, in part thanks to his gleaming white stage set, which featured shiny white flooring, two white drums sets, white keyboards, microphones, etc.

The males in his 10-piece band were wearing smart black suits and thin ties (they later changed into plaid jackets) while the women, including his three female backing vocalists, were initially decked out in stunning red mini-dresses, all complementing the wildly coifed "Rod the Mod," who began the night sporting a gold suit, one of several sharp outfits he wore during 90 minutes on stage.

Kicking in with the O'Jays' "Love Train," he had the crowd singing heartily by the second song "Tonight's the Night," and after a wild run through Sam Cooke's "Having a Party," he brought out Nicks for their only duets, "Passion," and "Young Turks."

Stewart's band was sparked by guitarist Paul Warren and fiddle and mandolin player J'Anna Jacoby.

Fortunately, he stayed away from "The Great American Songbook" material that he's made a killing with in recent years, opting instead for a set of vintage rockers like the beautiful version of Tom Waits' "Downtown Train," and some of his real classics like "The First Cut is the Deepest," and "Reason to Believe."

Though he had the flu a week ago that briefly halted the tour, Stewart was mostly in fine voice Sunday. Occasionally, his trademark raspy timbre seemed thinner than usual, like during "You Wear it Well," and even on his mega-hit "Maggie May," but elsewhere, like during the moving cover of Van Morrison's "Have I Told You Lately," he sang majestically, even touching every upper octave note with grace and style.

His latter set highlights included a very playful "Hot Legs," during which the soccer-loving Stewart kicked at least two dozen soccer balls deep into the crowd.

The singer's encore embraced one of his most controversial musical periods, as he charged through the disco-era smash "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy." He rarely stopped smiling and not surprisingly appears to be a guy who is still thrilled every time he takes the stage.

why do I seem to recall her saying that one was falling apart? it is spectacular, I'm getting really tired of the latest one...probably because she wears it all the time!!
