Instead, I went to Amazon, found it in the MP3 section, and downloaded it legally!

I love how Stevie sings, "You know that I'd be with you if I could!" And then how she mirrors Todd on "I'll come around and see you once in awhile..." "Once in awhile..."

I always forget Hall & Oates are on that song, but now I do notice Daryl trying to out~wail Stevie!
I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip!

Oh man, I love this video. I really dig the fact that Stevie has no idea what the words are but she gives it gusto all the same. She is so freaking hot too. I saw this waaaay back on ABC's "In Concert" late one Friday night when they were spotlighting Cal Jam. Boy, did I just date myself. I wonder how many of you even remember, "In Concert" ?

I remember being a kid in the Summer of 1979, and I LOVED this weird song that had this BIZARRE woman's vocals on it! But I never knew who she was.

A few years later, now a Stevie fan, I found a list of all of her guest appearances ~ I HAD to have ALL of her recordings! On New Year's Eve 1984, I bought the John Stewart album, and there was that song ~ "GOLD"!!! And, not only that ~ "Midnight Wind"!!!!

That New Year's Day, I spent drinking beer and listening to 4 songs over & over:

"Gold"
"It's You, Only You (Mein Schmerz)" ~ Lene Lovich
"Breathing" ~ Kate Bush
"Midnight Wind"

During the '80s, I had a checklist of Stevie guest appearances that never left my wallet, just in case I stopped by a used record store. I was able to find everything except a copy of Louise Goffin's album.

I love Stevie's vocals on the Walter Egan album, especially "Yes, I Guess I Am" and her vocals on "Whenever I Call You Friend" are so good I can overlook the triteness of the lyrics. It was a big hit and gave her the opportunity to actually belt. "Magnet & Steel" and "Hello It's Me" went top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, so

I love her vocals on John Stewart's "Midnight Wind," which hit #28 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart. It was the follow-up single to the top-5 hit "Gold" and her audible presence on both tracks helped with airplay. (Razor & Tie's 1994 CD reissue of "Bombs Away" currently goes for $60 - $80, unless you peruse Amazon's Marketplace where some sellers have it prices between $100 - $400. I'm not kidding.)

I've never been able to discern Stevie's background vocals on Phil Collin's "Separate Lives." Has anyone else?

Wow that was the first time I've ever heard Midnight Wind. That's freaking amazing. It may just be her most awseome and wild "studio" vocals." Does anyone else hear her singing the same chant as she does in Violet and Blue?

I FINALLY found the Louise Goffin album on vinyl in 1993 ~ at Bill Gamelson's store in Austin!!! Eek!!!!!

Stevie sings, "My eyes" very clearly once in "Separate Lives" after Marilyn &Phil sing it. Other than that in the song ~

Hawkeye, YES, about "Violet And Blue"! I always thought Stevie figured she'd save that to use on her own later.

In 1991, the Stevie fanzine Silver Springs had an interview with John Stewart about STEVIE, and he said SHE completely created her vocals on "Midnight Wind" without anyone's help. He said she kept overdubbing and overdubbing them and created the most amazing thing! He also gave Stevie quite a bit of the credit for "Gold" being a big hit!

BTW, both of Walter Egan's first two albums, Fundamental Roll and Not Shy, are available TOGETHER on Amazon's mp3 section for downloading with a cost of $8.99 TOTAL for BOTH albums! 21 songs for that is a bargain, and ALL of the songs Stevie did with Walter (about half of those 21) are included (except for "The Dealer" and "Sisters Of The Moon", of course!).

Also, "Midnight Wind" is available for downloading from Amazon as well:

Only 89 Cents!!!!!

My favourite of Stevie's songs with Walter is not on YouTube ~ "Finally Find A Girlfriend".

Oh, wow! I just LOVE Stevie on it! It's not nearly as trippy as "Tunnel O' Love" or "Yes, I Guess I Am", but it's so bouncy and cool. Stevie backs Walter, and she also does some beautiful harmony with that Annie chick who lipsynchs to Stevie's vocals in the video for "Blonde In The Blue T~Bird".

But my favourite part is at the end, while Walter sings his final "Finally found a girlfriend...", Stevie starts ranting:

"Finally found ~ HEY!!!
Finally found..." and then after Walter finishes, she yells out, "Girlfriend ~ YEAH!!!!!"

"Ooh hoo
Ooh hoo... Ooh...
Ooh hoo
Ooh hoo... Ooh..."

***Available for downloading on Amazon!!!!!

You really shouldn't be turning your head like that to check someone out while your driving. Your putting lives in danger! Didn't these people ever take driving lessons?!
