Default Landslide charts again

Landslide lands at #23 on the Top 40 this week. That song is a cash cow for Stevie.

damn. 75, 97 (dance version), 03 (the dixie prix) and 11.

It is pretty song, and well written. Better than the Lady Blah Blah garbage we have been force fed lately.

The 2006 Australian Live version of "Landslide" on Crystal Visions also consistently sells well on iTunes and Amazon, so you could even add 07 to your list.

well i dont count iTunes as "top 40" radio. Though it is a honorable mention.

I think this proves that long after Stevie is gone, it'll be Landslide, and not Rhiannon or Gold Dust Woman or any of the others, that will forever be associated with her, it's just a timeless classic.

You might reconsider. Yes, technically it's not radio but it is the number one retailer of music in the U.S., having inched ahead of Wal-Mart back in 2008. iTunes charts are the best indicator right now of current, actual musical trends.

I thought Stevie took $7 million back a few years ago for all rights to this song? How can she be profiting from it charting now?

I do know that the Smashing Pumpkins complained that it was an expensive song to get the rights to record. Stevie's response was that they helped pay for her pool by recording it. She's getting royalties off of it.

Hey, 1994 should be on the list of Hit Years for "Landslide"!!!

Stevie still has the royalty rights to "Landslide".

No, She made @7million just that year it was a big pop/country hit for the Dixie Chicks in 03' from publishing royalties.

Agreed! Landslide will be Stevie's most celebrated song in her catalogue. The long distance winner! Not only is it a simple, yet beautifully written song. But it's timeless and universal theme is something everybody can relate to.

did that make top 40? I don't ever remember hearing it on the radio, but then again Smashing Pumpkins was not AC top 40 really. It was more "Alternative". Now adays though you hear 1979 mixed in with AC stations, simply because it has become less "shocking" of a band. I am sure in 1976 Fleetwood Mac was NEVER played on station that played What older people listened to.

well, so far, it looks like this is going to be a good year for her pocket book, plus, if that glee segment for Rumours happens this year, chalk up another Top 40 or maybe 2

I lived most of 1994 in Houston, and at first "Landslide" was only on the Alternative stations, and that was just from the IMPORT CD~single, before the US release on that Icarus EP. By November, ALL of the Houston stations were playing "Landslide", pop & alternative & rock.

At Thanksgiving 1994, I (thankfully) moved back to Dallas, and all of the major Dallas stations were playing "Landslide", well into Spring 1995.

I have no idea about "charts", but Smashing Pumpkins' cover of "Landslide" was a HUGE Hit, reaching a LOT of Alterna~Kids then. I remember all of these 19~20 year olds in the backroom of the Gap at the Dallas Galleria, listening to 94.5, The Edge, Dallas' Alternative Rock station then (and about the most important radio station in Dallas in 1994~1995), and they would ALL sing along with Billy on "Landslide" when it came on...
