I'm still on such a high after the show...such an awesome time! My review would be too long-winded plus some other ledgies have basically said what I would say, so here's some random thoughts after seeing one of the best concerts ever:
1. The backdrop was not raised for the show. I have narrowed this down to 2 possibilities. 1 is that they were having technical problems. Anotehr could be that ticket demand necessitated them opening up seats directly behind the stage. The configuration at Mellon Arena was supposed to be end stage, with the seats behind the stage blocked off. Mine were slightly side view (a very unique perspective, btw), and looking to the left I saw a lot of people sitting directly behind the stage. It could have been either/or. Did anyone else notice this? 2. It was friggin awesome to hear everyone singing along to The Chain. That slight hesitation when it goes from the verse (damn the light...) to the chorus (..and if!) was incredible. During that little millisecond of hesitation, you could feel the crowd swell up as the band hit the chorus full force. 3. John is VERY VERY underrated as a bass player. He was superb. 4. Lindsey's stage presence during Tusk was fantastic. The whole "butting heads" thing was excellent and when he started to crowd Stevie I was afraid she was going to fall over. Heh. 5. There was this guy in the front row, just about in front of Stevie. During Landslide he was really singing it back to Stevie, complete with very exaggerated hand gestures and movements. Even being as fairly high up as I was I could notice him. That guy had spunk. 6. Lindsey seemed so touched by the crowd's love. Especially after I'm So Afraid. He deserves it. 7. Mick's solo was very entertaining. I'm still with him! 8. Going back to my first point...there were people seated directly behind the stage...well on teh left hand side of the stage there's a video screen. Well this must be for the people in the front row...the reason why? Wel, it's a projection screen, so it projects the shots onto the screen. For the people infront of the screen, this is fine. But for the people behind it, it's backwards. In other words, Lindsey appeared to play guitar with his left hand for those people. 9. Just such an incredible bond between the audience and band. What a great night. ...While I'm here, does anyone have any potential news about a 2nd leg being added? I'm dying to go to another show but tehre's really none around here that I can afford (could have gone to Cleveland if I would have had a bit more money) Cheers! |

Hello!
It was nice to read about your thoughts and perspective. I about died when you mentioned the guy in the front row directly in front of Stevie singing "Landslide" to her!! I was directly behind him. (He was in a white T-shirt, right?) That guy was hilarious. He kept doing these funny little dances throughout the show (I think to get her attention) and if she saw him, she didn't crack up. (Give her credit for that...) I'm glad you mentioned about the screen not being elevated. I was trying to figure out what was going on with that myself. But you're right...there were A LOT of people sitting behind the stage, so I guess that's what had happened. ~Carlene

YEP! That's the guy I'm talkin about!
I could have sworn Stevie saw him...I wanna say during Landslide but I don't know for sure...seemed like she acknowledged him and pointed to him. He was quite humorous. |
