Hey, I knew I had seen "Smile At You" listed as newly recorded in 1999 before, and now I found it! There it is, right in the middle of other songs that were demoed for Trouble In Shangri-la, and possibly fully-recorded. From the U.S. Copyright Office:
[ 177 ] Fall from grace. PAu002438117 1999 [ 178 ] Annabel Lee. PAu002438116 1999 [ 179 ] Smile at you. PAu002438115 1999 [ 180 ] Planets of the universe. PAu002438114 1999 [ 181 ] Not make believe. PAu002419370 1999 [ 182 ] Thrown down. PAu002419366 1999 [ 183 ] Bombay sapphire. PAu002419365 1999 Details: Type of Work: Music Registration Number / Date: PAu002438115 / 1999-08-31 Title: Smile at you. Description: Sound cassette + lyrics sheet. Copyright Claimant: Welsh Witch Music Date of Creation: 1977 Authorship on Application: words & music: Stevie Nicks. Names: Nicks, Stevie Welsh Witch Music Stevie said she pulled off a few finished songs from TISL in order to give to FM for their new album. And we know that "Thrown Down" was fully-recorded for TISL, not just a demo. So, perhaps full TISL versions of "Smile At You" and "Not Make Believe" are IN THE VAULT. I wonder how much BETTER the TISL version would have been than LB's abortion version on Say You Will (although I like Stevie's vocals on it). Oh, and look: "Bombay Sapphire" doesn't have an "s" at the end. It is about the gin, Stevie! You liar... ![]() |
