The Ellen taping is four days away. I am guessing SN and Rod won't perform together on the show, or they'd be in rehearsals, and I would think there'd be a leak by now. For Dave not to have known and seemingly now not be involved with the Ellen taping makes me think we may not hear a new song at all next week.
It's all pretty interesting.
Means nothing, but I have replayed 'Annabelle Lee' twice today and keep thinking Rod is going to wind up singing on it on the cd, that it seems like a RS song! Means nothing.
I just wonder if 'Dave Stewart' wasn't a selling point in any tour negotiations, and someone said 'Rod Stewart, maybe' and it started there?

Yeah, I just tweeted Dave that this whole situation with Rod blows...and he replied right away with "what can I say , not my choice !" and then he appropriately posted a song titled FRUSTRATION!

I think...no one has even really said that Stevie was doing any such tour with Rod, they are simply going to be on the same show hahah

I had another thought...maybe Dave is saying this Stevie/Rod tour is all news to him because it's not true. Sure he could easily just dismiss the "rumours", but he's probably having more fun watching everyone freak out over it, plus it creates good buzz for Stevie's Ellen appearance.

It's a good strategy, for sure....even though at this point I think I'll be so pissed if it's him instead of Rod! LOL!

Why would Ellen have 2 musical guests on the same day though? Now that Dave has confirmed he will not be on the show and if Stevie and Rod are... they most likely will be announcing a tour together ala James Taylor & Carol King last year which was a successful hit pairing of 2010.

On to release date speculation, Dave just tweeted now his album will be out in MAY. And reiterated once again to a Stevie fan that her album is due late spring. So it's looking like MAY could be the month. So if that's the case Jan.13th does seem a little soon to be debuting a new song for an album 4 months away.

Very good point, but the tour will probably kick-off in June. We need some clarity! I don't think i can survive until Thursday wondering what to make of all of this...

Stevie herself said March 1st which makes IF she does do a new song...

Stevie is with WB, and they still control the ballgame, folks. This is why so many artists eventually go to a self-label or smaller privately-owned labels. I can tell you that WB does not see Dave as a big draw on the tour circuit. Rod is. It's all business at this stage. Stevie's creative say was in making the album.
