Yeah, it's somethin' alright... This is one of those covers that make ya just go why bother? I loves me some Waylon, I was raised on him, but I don't think anybody can really pull off Rhiannon, unless they make it vastly different.. and then I wouldn't be interested. Rhiannon is Stevie Nicks to me.

Oh, sorry, just noticed your reply. I actually have an audio of a live concert, great quality, where they do both! I'll hafta get that uploaded and then send ya the link. It's a two parter, like 30 minutes apiece, so ya gotta jes' sit through the whole concert for them, but it was a great show. Did an insane version of House Carpenter and some gorgeous harmony on All This Time before Sara recorded it for her solo album. Good stuff.

As for a cover I'd wanna hear.. uh, I'm not very imaginative, so I'll go with yet another cover of That's Alright.. by She & Him! Love their first album, and That's Alright is a kinda obscure FM song from the Rumours line-up, so they could pretty much avoid any negative comparison.

It's the only Pointer Sisters album I own...or WOULD own...the whole album is great. They also cover Bruce Springsteen's "Fire", Redbone's "Come & Get Your Love", Loggins & Messina's "Angry Eyes", the Doobie Bros' "Echoes Of Love", Sly Stone's "Everybody Is A Star", Stephen Stills' "As I Come Of Age" and Steely Dan's "Dirty Work"....the CD even has a couple of bonus tracks.

Also, I'm glad to see someone posted Tori's cover of "Landslide," but it's the oddest thing for me. I am a major Tori fan, and I usually adore her covers - I think she has an incredible knack for taking someone else's song and paying tribute to it respectfully while still making it totally her own - but I can't quite get behind the "Landslide" cover. But then, I am not sure what would be a better Mac/Stevie song for her to cover, either.

Here's John Frusciante's version of Songbird. I like it, but I actually LOVE John Frusciante, he's my favorite artist after Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks. He also covered Landslide, with Bob Forrest (not great, though).

Plus, the integration of The Chain is brilliant, as is Rob Thomas' anguished vocal.

On NGBA, Rob Thomas' voice has a mechanical sound. It easily belongs to someone who feels alienated and distanced, whose been hurt, cut himself off from emotion and really is never going back again.

It works very well and I'd love Lindsey's thoughts on it. Michele

- I think Sister Hazel's Gold Dust Woman is just awesome. Their performance of it reminds me a lot of a live version of "I'm So Afraid" with its power and pacing. Probably the best F-Mac cover, as far as I'm concerned.

- I also like Tonic's "Second Hand News" because it amps up the power at the end of the song. I always felt like SHN is great but it needed something extra, this cover did it for me. I feel like most of the song we're driving around a neighborhood and then when the end comes we merge onto the highway, haha. Tonic was such an underrated band, now almost trapped in the one-hit-wonder category!

- Matchbox Twenty's "NGBA" and Goo Goo Dolls "I Don't Wanna Know" work really well because they change the emotional delivery of the song. They're both songs with dark content but are delivered so casual and upbeat that they don't really make sense to me -- but the cover versions tap into the right vibe.

I have a live version of "Dreams" by Whiskeytown which is VERY good - but the one I see on I-Tunes doesn't live up to it. Don't remember how I came across mine though, so that doesn't really help in this discussion :-)
