I've heard this but have never seen it before! Thanks. I attended a Bob Dylan/Tom Petty show in the states. I love circumstance surrounding Stevie being there; she pretty much self-invited herself.

Being cozy with Tom Petty, she knew this was a rare opportunity to get a chance to be on stage with Bob Dylan. I don't think Tom or Bob asked her to come make an appeareance. She just showed up and inserted herself in the situation. That take balls!

I recall several news articles at the time questioning (something to the effect of ) the surprise of the unannouced appearence of Stevie in Australia.

I just love her pitch here. Gimme a higher pitched ragged Stevie in concert over the monotone, safe vocal, every time. I don't even think she seems that loaded in it, she's just going for it, and using all the shadings of an imperfect voice- which let's face it, it is. Perfect voices are fine, but unless you have one, I say, go for the gnarly notes.
Maybe that's what I miss sometimes in latter-day Nicks concerts- she plays it pretty (very?) safely, vocally. She may be giving us 'better sung' and more respectable vocalizing in shows in the past decade, but I like me some ragged Stevie singing, and she tends to avoid it, now.
I understand she likely figures 'did that' and now wants to sing by the rules.
Break some rules, Stevie Nicks! Nobody can, like you did and sound so hot doing it!
It's definitely not about how she looks in this clip, but that voice sure grabs your attention. Stunning.

Wow!!! Melbourne Myer Music Bowl 86, I was thereactually to see Bob Dylan, i remember we chatted up the security guard & us girls got in for free, i couldn't believe it when Stevie just appeared out of the blue, she ran on stage like a crazy women, wearing that horrible outfit, at the time i thought she sounded & looked awful.. I now appreciate watching & listening to her RAL era..

I wish Stevie would just let it all out on stage the way she used to. In the studio too! Perfect vocals are boring vocals - if I wanted perfect vocals I'd listen to Celine Dion or Susan Boyle - I want ragged, angry gypsy-woman rock and roll vocals!
