As for Stony Brook (no one calls it SUNY Stony Brook, we all call it Stony Brook University), there is the Staller Center and it has a very big theater, but I doubt he'd play there.

I'd just be thankful if he played at whatever became of the Nokia Theater (I heard on the radio once it's now the Best Buy Theater) or maybe even the Beacon.
I could be wrong, but I'm guessing Luke is referring to the size of Westbury whatever it's called and while I'd love to see him play the Beacon too, since it's so gorgeous, there's not a chance he'd come close to filling that either. Nokia/Best Buy is probably the most realistic, since that's where he played on the GOS tour and I remember it being pretty well sold. It's not my favorite venue atmosphere wise but most of the NYC venues I do love for their vibe are mostly set up for GA shows, which I can't see Lindsey doing.

I know (and have done) all of these things. I phrased them as such (commonly/easily & identifiably) known names for the purposes of this discussion. If I was talking specifically to a Exit 60-63'er, I'd be a bit more local in my lingo.

Staller is about 1500 capacity- not too big, but big enough not to dissuade Lindsey from simply playing NYC. And Amagansett's not that much of a drive... Stephen Talkhouse would be a great show!

yeah, Best Buy does seem the best and I would be willing to see him there. I think I saw it outside of a deli once when me and this group were eating before going to a Broadway show (to this day, I dunno how anyone could eat a panini in the middle of a sidewalk in Manhattan ) , but it looks like a nice venue for Bucky, better than a club.

I understand now. To get to me, you get off at exit 62, so I'm in never-never land

As for Talkhouse, I just associate the Hamptons from when I went out to Montauk last year and the crazy traffic from when Sunrise Highway turns into a 2-lane road out there.

BTW, when did you live in Holbrook?

I lived in Holbrook '82-'92. EXIT 61 REPRESENT! (my street backed up to Nicolls Road, though)

The Montauk traffic is terrible... and it always takes longer than you think it will (by sheer distance, traffic aside). The Talkhouse is a great venue- they used to tape VH1 Storytellers' episodes there.

I take Nicolls Road every day to get to Stony Brook and, thankfully there are no developments with half-million dollar townhouses built right off the road (I saw that on the entrance ramp for going eastbound at exit 34 and right across the street from the mall).

My friend Danielle, who had long moved to Florida, used to live in a development on Patchogue-Holbrook Road back when I knew her and I knew quite a few people from Holbrook in high school, but the creepiest one was this guy I met on Facebook, and mind you, I know people from halfway around the world on there, that was from Centereach.

I think there's a smaller theater-like venue at SUNY Stony Brook that he could hit if he played Long Island, but I'm inclined to think he'd skip LI altogether.
Uh... he played Westhampton PAC a few years ago.

He played Town Hall last time, which is, I think, around 2,000 seats. Never been there, but I hear it's really nice. He could totally play the Nokia too. But what about some of the smaller rooms at Lincoln Center? That would be a hoot!

Yikes, that is way out there... out by Cheap Sams nursery? Montauk is a bit of a haul; I just can't see how people can stomach the traffic in the summer. I hate the drive out to my house as it is, but Montauk would be like another hour, hour-and-a-half.

Lincoln Center would be cool. Look at Wikipedia, the Met is 2,800 seats, which could work for Bucky, but then again, a rocker at an opera venue is kinda odd, but based on what I'm reading, the Vivian Beaumont Theater (the recent South Pacific revival was there) and the Avery Fisher Hall (Queen played there a few times) could definitely work for Bucky, but how many damn people donated money to get their named slapped on something? And I thought the Met (the museum) was bad enough with that.

And I'm not that far out. Farmingville isn't exactly in never-never land, like in, say, Riverhead (now that is far out and pretty much self-contained). As far out as I am, it never compares to upstate and this guy from the Sci Fi Forum, Lukas, that I had to take to Office Max last week. He's from Putnam, which is way up (right about Westchester) and he thought Farmingville and Farmingdale were right near each other, and that we were in Nassau (mind you we were in Stony Brook, and that Smith Haven Mall was right across the street). On top of it all, he didn't like how built up the area was and that there were multiple ways to get back to campus. is that strange or what?

BTW, Heijira, what part of the city are you from, since I'm from "the middle of nowhere" in Suffolk

If he came anywhere near me that was close enough I'd definitely go.

There's pretty much no way he's going to play the Beaumont. Outside of it housing a Broadway show pretty much consistently, it's just not used as a concert venue. Maaaybe Avery Fisher Hall.

He played Town Hall for UTS, I think. I didn't make that one, but it is a good venue. He's played Nokia (now Best Buy) on the GOS tour and it worked well for him, I think it's probably the perfect size. Anything over 1500 wouldn't really work.

Well, exit 62 is only ten or so exits closer than Riverhead. I really don't get off the LIE very much except to hit Lowes in Medford or Cheap Sams. It's usually a straight shot to Exit 70 and then the Sunrise Hwy...

I'm on the edge of the West Village. I could throw a rock and hit Chelsea from my building (not that I've tried). Nowadays I work in Westchester. Yes, I get around a lot.

The GOS tour was so short, I didn't even realize he played the Nokia!

I saw Sheryl Crow at Avery Fisher Hall several years ago. He could totally play there. Then there is also the Hammerstein Ballroom, Carnegie Hall and even a theatre space in the Time Warner Center (where I saw Carly Simon some years ago). And of course there is the Apollo Theater . Oh, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music is a really awesome place... The bottom line is that Lindsey has a gazillion options in NYC!

I know it's only 10 exits from the outlets, but they are very spread out exits. Further west, they are much closer together the exits.

West Village...I've been to East Village with all those damn hipsters to see the buildings on the cover of Physical Graffiti (yes, I'm that nuts ) and I don't think I've really been on the West Side of Manhattan. I've driven through Westchester many times to get to CT to see my aunt and my friend Sam is from Bedford, but unlike others, I really don't consider Westchester to be upstate, but once you get past it, that definitely is upstate (believe me, i had to go up to Ithaca for my cousin's wedding and once you get past Westchester, things get very strange)
