It's a fascinating interview. Stevie was trying to very careful and diplomatic. Mick seemed to be nervous about how they were all coming off. They are a text book study, to be sure.

I didn't notice LB not naming them. Ha. I will listen for that again. It is a fascinating interview. They don't all seem totally comfortable with each other, yet Stevie and Lindsey seem downright cozy.

If I had seen this interview before the Dance aired I probably would have been like "we're f**ked." I can't believe these 5 stiff's went from this rehearsal to The Dance...Crazy.

Thank you for posting this. I love in part one @10:40, when Lindsey is bumping Stevie. Mick seems to realize this and says " ello, ello ", classic, then Lindsey gives Stevie the kiss on the head and Stevie laughs with that little wicked giggle, priceless. All the while Christine is talking, so I don't think that Chris or John even knew what happened, making it even funnier, well to me anyway.
As far as the group being stiff, I think they were all still in a daze that the reunion was even happening, and they were careful with their words as to not offend anyone, or dwell on anything negative from the past. When asked about their set list, they just did not want to put their cards on the table. Mick even commented to the interviewer at the end (when asked about doing Farmer's Daughter), that he was " well informed ". Also, they commented a couple of times that it was warm, and hot. I also like the fact that Christine spoke a lot during the interview, and in part two, when Stevie was asked how she felt about being an influence to so many people, Stevie paused, (again I think just wanting to be careful with her words, and not wanting to be singled out), Christine grabs Stevies arm and says " don't take it to seriously", very, very funny. I agree with John, that this is my favorite line up of the band. Very enjoyable interview that I had never seen before, so thanx again.

I loved this interview, thanks for posting!
It's cute when the interviewer asks Stevie about being an influence, and she says "I don't really remember what the question was and I don't know how to answer it, anyways."
Also, to the post above me, I think Lindsey leans over to whisper something to Mick, although I might be wrong, he might be kissing Stevie's head but I had to re-watch it carefully to come to the conclusion that he wasn't.

To me I think it's just the fact that they hadn't been in an interview situation for a while. Also the fact that they had to be careful what they said as the tour etc hadn't kicked off yet. Stevie is a little strange though in this one, very abrupt...you are trying to promote renunion & tour, her manner suggested someone had just died.

One of my favourite interviews for sure. I think the practice was very strong as well. YMLF ftw !

Yes, no matter how stilted they looked in the interview, they sounded great and if I'd seen this in 1997 I would have been beyond excited about the upcoming music.

Stevie was conscious about being singled out. She is very formal and careful in the interview. Mick and Christine are too. Lindsey is acting pretty much like himself and I can almost feel Stevie relax when he finally says, that the whole has always been greater than the parts, because the rest of what he said about leaving in 1987 could have been insulting. She was just glad that he finished on a positive note and she was able to nod in agreement.

He also did say that he was involved in "TITN" and that was a bit modest on his part. He could have taken more credit there, but on the other hand, I think he was talking about his solo album too much.

They also were trying to be delicate when they discussed the setlist. I do think they were telling the truth when they said it wasn't finalized yet, even though Mick did concede Farmer's Daughter. I think there was some politics going on regarding solo songs. Also, it was interesting to hear Stevie talking about wanting to write something fresh and not use an old song, the same way she later discussed what she did for SYW.

Even if it wasn't John's favorite line up of the band (and I think it was and not just for monetary reasons), he would basically have to say it was, with the others sitting right there. I loved that Mick said that early FM was fun because John was just 18 at the time and John laughed in accord.

We know Mick is tall, but he just looked especially tall when they were all posing for pictures. Also, Lindsey was like a little boy when he ran and got his guitar. All the photographer needed to do was suggest that they have instruments and Lindsey left immediately as if he'd been waiting to hear someone request a guitar for the last 5 hours.

They are a fascinating quintet.

I saw him kiss her to thank her for saying he did a good job on her music. But basically, he seemed to call himself being seductive towards her throughout.

I've seen older FM group interviews from the early 80s where the band looks similarly bored-annoyed-uncertain. Most of the five interview very well alone or in pairs. But when the five of them are all stuck together they kind of freeze up--perhaps out of fear that someone will say the wrong thing.

Incidentally, the Say You Will line up looked equally dead when they were featured on some tv awards show hosted by Jimmy Kimmell (where he talked them in Germany via Satellite.)

At the time of the rehearsals for The Dance, Lindsey, Mick and John seemed very keen to be out playing. Christine seemed excited once the music started but extremely bored or annoyed by all the other crap--lengthy photo shoots, tiresome interviews where the same questions are asked again and again, make up reapplications...

Stevie's tentativeness was VERY temporary. I think she might have started out saying "I just quit this band a few years earlier" but then saw that this was an opportunity to reignite her stardom and seized it.

For me the most interesting moment of the entire interview was when Mick mentioned that Bob Welch was maybe 5% unhappy with being in the band in 1974, a comment which Christine and John immediately pounced on. "I think it was a bit more than that! The writing was on the wall."

Ha, if it's the one I am thinking of, which was around the end of December, Lindsey definitely looked like a zombie, but they had just finished performing, so I suppose he was exhausted. He just stared. John had nothing to say, which is not atypical. Stevie and Mick were giggling like teens and having a grand old time with each other. Mick kept repeating something about them not being dead yet.

I also like in part one @ 6:26, after Stevie does her little dance, Lindsey says to her " Sweet little dress, sweet sweet dress, very nice ", in sort of a funny voice, Stevie face lights up, then Mick says " Can I get one? ".
And then in part 3 @ :56, Stevie looks like a flight attendant showing us where the exits are. No volume needed, just funny to watch.

Your time stamps are helpful. This weekend I will look at the clips again and use your guide to find things that I missed (like Stevie pointing out the exits). Who needs to shop for Thanksgiving, when I can do that?

He fell for her again, she watched it happen . . . meanwhile Will became a gleam in his dad's eye.

I didn't notice the exit pointing either. But I did notice how Lindsey hemmed and hawed his way through the "Twisted" reunion... Gee, where was Kristen anyway? Neal probably could have used a hand there.
