Thumbs down Backup singers...

LOL I laugh SOOOOOOOO much watching those gals back there "dancing" to the music...it's HILARIOUS!! I wish they'd nix the backup singers too...don't need em...just give us SnL harmonies...good nuff...listen to Sorcerer from back in the day....perfection!!! I know, I know....but their voices were much higher and stuff...so frickin what....they can STILL harmonize today with their deeper voices.

NIX THE OFF KEY backup singers, folks!! (Yeah, I know they WON'T, but we're gettin' out all our frustrations in THAT thread, so...I'm spilling it over to this one. LOL)

Yeah! Since about midway through 1977...there was a significant change in Stevie's approach to the song somewhere in mid-tour. The instrumental portion remained somewhat the same, but Stevie changed the dynamics of the song somewhere along the line in that tour. If you listen to versions from the beginning of the tour (Feb-Mar 1977) to the versions from later in the tour (August-Sep 1977), you'll hear a BIG difference in her approach to the song. The dynamic between her vocal and what the band was playing behind her didn't mesh for a while, until the band reworked the musical dynamics...then the whole song just went downhill from there.

That's the point, though. Fleetwood Mac COULD easily change this by mixing up the setlist, and getting away from the same canned performances (Rhiannon, GYoW, Dreams), and trying some new stuff, with some new energy. Would it take more effort? Sure, but does anyone think that these 4 are not talented enough to pull it off? I guess I feel like they DON'T think about the stage show, they take the easy route rather than work a little harder to make it great. I just hated how on the Dance tour, every song was preceded by the EXACT same banter, it was just so scripted and fake.

I'm not bitching here, I know I'll have an awesome time at Worcester, but that doesn't mean I give up the right to level some criticism when I feel it's warranted.

BTW, Bruce CHOOSES to play 3 hour shows, FM could be doing the same, they just don't.

The Tusk shows aren't too hot either, but I didn't mind the Mirage version with the reworked lyrics (i don't change, you don't change).

I'm not trying to argue or anything, I'm just thinking that you can't compare Fleetwood Mac to Bruce Springsteen. The Mac will never, EVER have the same type of stage dynamic that Bruce and the E... have. THey just aren't that kind of band, and they never have been.

THey can play the same set, but honestly Lindsey's canned speeches were aggravating as hell on The Dance. That part I can live without. And it wouldn't be half bad if they maybe played each song a little different once in a while. Dreams has nearly sounded the same for twenty six years.
