About ten years ago, I rang up Walter Egan at Barnes & Noble, and just a few years ago, I helped Billy Burnette find a CD at Tower Records. The first thing that came out of my mouth both times was "WHAT WAS IT LIKE WORKING WITH STEVIE NICKS?!!!" instead of talking about their own music, or just leavining them alone. Didn't wanna make the same mistake with Dave.

smart move. I met Bruce Hornsby about 5 years ago and the first thing I asked him was about his work with Stevie on TOSOTM. We talked about Two Kinds of Love but he forgot the name of the other song he was involved in. I quickly reminded him that the title was Juliet. He seemed astounded I knew the name of it. I pressed him about her deal with Rupert...he said they seemed pretty "cozy" when the three of them had dinner. I never really asked anything about his own music which didn't sit very well. In order to "redeem" myself and pretend to take an interest, I asked Bruce if he still played the keyboards. Well, that the absolute wrong thing to ask the man who was already irritated about my lack of interest or knowledge in his music. He told me I didn't know the first thing about him or his music. He was visible angry. I wouldn't make that mistake again. It wasn't pretty.
