With Stevie we have the great unknown as well as the first new Stevie songs in 8 years. Stevie has never worked with Dave Stewart nor has she ever collaborated so closely with another songwriter. The hype machine has been running since the summer- with Stevie herself proclaiming this to be one of the best things she has ever done. And that's saying a lot! She has teased us with intriguing song titles like "Italian Summer." She promises more than the "four chords" that she knows how to play on the piano. She sounded terrific on her summer tour dates. She is either flirting with disaster or she may have just made an album for the ages. Anyone with even a remote interest in Stevie has got to be eager to see this album drop.

The vocals on Lindsey's recent solo albums have been unbearable. Such a shame as the actual songs are incredible. A return to an OOTC type album would excite me at this point. I really don't see what Lindsey is aiming for with the recent recorded vocals

That said I'll still obviously buy it and see how it goes.

I'm really looking forward to Stevies new album - mainly because it's been such a time since the last. Lets hope its not TISL 2, which by the info we are getting it should not be, there was far too much filler in that album.

I hope Dave can censor Stevie, her phrasing has gotten so bad since OSOTM, i just think people have treated her with kid gloves and are scared to say "lady that sucks, fix it."

Also, the compact disk format is not her friend! TISL was about 3 to 4 songs too long, which really makes a difference.

And of course that was SYW's problem, too. Just because you can PUT 80 minutes on a CD, doesn't mean you should put 80 minutes on a CD. Edit the work, to a cohesive unit. If you want to put the leftovers on a bonus disk, fine. But the album needs to stand well, on it's own.

AMEN!! The whispery, sexy voice was cool for a song or two, but, enough already!!!

I like some of Lindsey's solo work, but, the majority of it is over produced, and very drowsy, to me.

Plus, the sound effects, are just annoying after a while. He is a great singer, why hide his talent under all that crap??

I will buy both albums, for sure, but, I hope Lindsey's is a little less production, and a lot more action!!

I'd definitely listen to Stevie's new album first, but, I'd buy them both for sure. I'm not gonna lie, I just don't have much time for Lindsey's solo stuff. I like the odd song here and there, but to me, listening through any of his solo albums all the way through is like listening to Stevie's TOSOTM - just something that doesn't interest me and leaves me bored. Whilst I can listen to most of Stevie's solo albums all the way through (Apart from TOSOTM, which is a dire turd of epic proportions, apart from the odd song here and there, and Street Angel, which leaves me comatose unless I mix it up a bit).

Although, one of these days, I will make myself sit down and listen to all his solo works properly (I really like it whenever a song from Gift of Screws comes up on shuffle) I just find Stevie's solo works more engaging.

while i won't disagree with you, i don't think it's some heavenly powers-that-be that are keeping her voice in tact. i just think she took better care of it than stevie and lindsey. first, chris sounded like **** (live) back in "the day". second, none of her songs forced her to bring a lot of power like stevie's and even lindsey's. she just kinda ho hummed her way through, and stevie was wailing and lindsey was..idk what he was doing anyway, i think that's the biggest contributor to why their voices have gone downhill and her's hasn't.



oh, and i'd listen to stevie's first. i really have to ease into lindsey's songs. it took me a good 5 years to love all of lindsey's songs on SYW. now there's not one i will skip, even though i skip a lot of stevie's. but again, it took me 5 years to get there anyone else feel like that? his songs are usually so out there, it takes you a while to appreciate them.

Yes, I feel the same way. I remember when SYW was newly released and I was telling a friend I was having a hard time liking Red Rover. She suggested I keep listening to it to give it a chance because she felt it was a good song. So it took a few more listens and then I came to appreciate it. I very much enjoyed it live with Stevie singing on it also.

YES!! it was red rover for me too.

i was with bill (buckymcnix) in seattle and he played it. he had hated it too, but his bf made him listen. now lindsey's songs are my favorites on the album. i even like murrow. probably the only stevie song that i absolutely love and never skip is thrown down (from SYW, of course )

Yes, who knows what he does. I don't deny that Lindsey has lost his voice. He has for the most part and whisper croak singing is a result. But I would also say that half the time, Lindsey isn't even really trying to sing. Maybe he isn't trying because he knows he can't hit the notes and he thinks lack of effort will lighten the blow of failure. But he spends so much time yelling and running and not singing that when he does try, I'm sometimes shocked by the results.

I was amazed that his voice sounded so much better on the Unleashed tour than it did on the SYW tour. He pulled out some beautiful harmonies on Storms and I was like, "what? Where? How did that happen?"' He still has more in him than he always puts on the table, vocal wise.

Of course, Christine's voice was beautiful on IMT and where it was audibly deeper and aged, that went with the emotion of the song. It spoke of experience, wisdom, polished oak. You almost hear a crack, but it's born from strength, not weakness or dwindling ability. She sang torn, the petals drop. He picks them out one by love, testing our love, by proving that it's gone and used her voice to reach an ache in a way I thought genius.

I have mixed feelings about Red Rover. I love love love love love love love the verses, but then it just falls off a cliff with the chorus. I've listened to it so many times because I want to like, but I can never appreciate the whole song.
