I stand, or rather sit on a float of some sort sailing round the circular river, corrected

I also really dislike, from Smile at You, "I should have turned away and ran...as fast as I can."

Shouldn't it be "as fast as I could"? Or something else...past-tense?

I don't think you could say that to Bob Dylan!

Actually that lyric is from the ridiculous 'Listen To The Rain' song.

Can I just be a Chiffonhead here for a moment and say none of Stevie's lyrics are bad, for she is an artist and true art is to be left to interpretation. I'm sure she means something in every lyric she's ever penned and I can see beauty in all of them! It may not make sense to us or be grammatically correct but Stevie wrote it, dammit! LMFAO I take this **** waaaay too seriously.

Now that's exactly what I would say to Bob Dylan!

"She depends upon her music like a husband"

"I have known this much longer than I've known you"

"Disaster was the only thing that I could depend on"

but the grand prize for cringe-worthy goes to:

"And the angel said, "Well you must have had a dream...
And you remember it..."Till the dream followed through...
Till the -- end of the dream...and the dream came true
When I want something...I get it"

note: probably not a coincidence that these are OSOTM tracks too..

I think we shouldn't forget one of her most famous lyrics...

"Thunder ONLY HAPPENS when it's raining..."

...which is simply just not true!

Maybe not a bad lyric, but a slightly ridiculous one!

As Christine McVie said, Stevie Nicks writes a LOT of songs, and some of them are rubbish. An alternative approach would be to not write so much, but then she'd be like one of those 'priests of nothing', who have a talent and don't use it.

For me, it goes with the territory that the more you write, the more you generate at BOTH extremes of the quality scale. So there's a direct relationship between how many great lines SN has written, and how many pish ones.

Some good laughs in this thread, tho!

I don't know how I forgot this one:

Everything all around me is electric now
But I haven't burned a candle in a real long time

between "my walls are flaming" and the "Gate and Garden" being about her Vagjayjay I am starting to think Stevie has had some serious gynecological problems or a yeast infection!

"Stevie's words can be pretty obscure at best, you know. I mean, sometimes I didn't know what she was singing about but in her mind, those words make complete sense and I often used to wonder what on earth she was talking about. But then, you didn't care because the words just sounded so good"
