Yeah, I've actually seen Tori on every tour (except for American Doll Posse, which I had to miss, sadly) since the Plugged tour in 1998. The 5 1/2 Weeks tour was in '99. I remember being all "Bwuh?" when I found out she & Alanis were touring together, because the only thing they have in common, really, is the fact that they're female. Tori is in a class of her own, and she was truly at the top of her game back then.

There was some crossover fan-wise, at the time, but Alanis fans were NOT the same type of people as Tori fans AT ALL, and this caused a lot of really asinine incidents during the tour that Tori had to put up with. The Alanis people tended to be rather... douchecanoe-y... and didn't get what they were seeing, which led to a number of incidents of them being completely disrespectful to Miss T in ridiculous ways.

She handled herself in typical Tori fashion, though, by which I mean with style, grace and a few well-timed insults, but still - it was completely ridiculous. For example, here is her performance of "The Waitress" in Vegas, which was filmed for a Pay Per View special. You'll notice that at about 6:28, she is glaring off camera and flipping someone the bird before popping off with something rather NSFW. This is because some guys in the front row are trying to taunt her, and even though she believes in peace, bitch, Miss T is not going to put up with your f*ckery :

Something similar happened about a month prior at a Massachusetts show when some different douchecanoes, again in the front row area, told her to show them her tits while she was trying to sing "Winter," which she had just dedicated to a girl who had committed suicide. The girl's friends were in the audience and had asked Tori to play it. Sigh.

If you ever get the chance to see her live, though, do it. Seriously. A Tori show is like nothing you've ever experienced before, even though it's not the same as it was back in the day. She means a lot to me for many different reasons, so I never miss a chance to see her if I can humanly help it.

And I get your snowflake comment, no worries. I think she might describe a lot of her playing the same way - she uses winter-y references in her songs so often, it would make sense. Winter, Icicle, Snow Cherries from France, Black Dove (January), Cooling, Cool On Your Island - not counting references in lyrics in other songs, of course. Haha.

Yeah, my Tori fandom is just as rabid as my Stevie or Nick Cave fandoms. I'm such a nerd.
Wow that does NOT help my jealousy hehe. But lucky you! And I can relate to that reaction, it doesn't make sense really. Maybe it's their stoicly feminist stance that linked them? Anyhoo, sounds as though it makes as much sense as The Editors accompanying R.E.M. in their last tour. Seriously, they played for an hour and I was convinced they were playing the same song over. Thank Buddha they weren't the headline act. I got far more satisfaction from grabbing Michael Stipe's butt then whoever the dude is who fronts TE. I wouldn't touch his bottom if you paid me in Cheesecake shaped like Rupert Everett (Little hint for mah upcoming birthday XD XD j/k).

Gah! That DOES sound like the R.E.M. tour. People paid good money to the see the support act and when the Lords themselves came onto the stage they didn't want to know. Seriously, why? If you hate them that much, leave before they come onstage. They don't deserve it and Tori certainly doesn't. I'm sure she put them in their place though. ....Nevermind. I can see for myself that she did hehe. Way to go, Tori! Any lesser woman would have flaked at the abuse and lost their confidence. I'm pretty sure Alanis would have done because she's scatty as hell at the best of times. I swear in one videography I saw of her, she was yelling at herself in the mirror playfully and suddenly burst into tears because of it. What's that about? If you're joking with yourself, take it as a blinking joke. *pets her neurotic head*. Bah, who am I kidding *pets my neurotic head*. I'm probably more "Elliot from Scrubs" neurotic though lol.

Wow! Some people I'll just never understand. That was a pretty cruel thing to do. *wonders if they got lynched after the show*. Should have done.Tori should have been up front of the mob swinging a fanbelt hehe. The girls poor friends must have been really cut up about it. If I ever get the chance I'll be there with bells on definitely! She's on my list of people I need to see before I die, along with Lindsey and Stevie of course. (And okay, cuddle Stephen Fry is chalked into the bottom in permanant ink but that's a given. He's like a walking, living, breathing Teddybear). I'm hoping someday to spend more time in America for my work so if I can do that I hope I'll be able to get to see one of her shows, because we're rarely lucky enough to get great acts in England. I swear all my luck for this life clubbed together when I got to see Fleetwood Mac last year lol.

That makes me feel better, that somebody out there gets my wierd Synasteatich ramblings. It would be pretty cool to see her perform in winter and perform her "winter related songs" in a complete snow queen themed performance. It would be so fitting and, ahhh, perfect. Doesn't she look like she'd make an excellent Snow Queen for Narnia? Only a good one of course. None of that evilness. She's too caring to be that. Okay. I'm rambling

I know this IS Fleetwood Mac related so I'm breaking all the rules here but I'm obsessed with Christine's song "Got a Hold on Me".
