My lawd, reading this thread is depressing. I'm just thankful that the overall message is a new Fleetwood Mac album. And unlike apparently most FM fans, I actually like the albums produced by Lindsey. So I don't mind how it goes,as long as it's good of course :P

Meh, SYW is probably my favorite, and I love it to death, but Lindsey's production goes a little too far imo.

The one sure thing for a masterpiece would be if Lindsey produced (). However, I think it could only benefit them all creatively if they got a worthy outside producer. My fear is that they'll just get some cruddy soft-rock producer to make Stevie happy.

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

Those albums that you like are also produced by Richard Dashut and Ken Caillat, and I think they were the crucial missing ingredients on SYW. If nothing else, they were able to channel Lindsey's creative musings into something musical and meaningful. SYW was proof that Lindsey simply cannot be left to his own devices.

i think as long as they don't try to do another double album, (or like SYW with 18 tracks) it should be fine, i thought that with SYW, the production didn't really come together as a cohesive sound like previous Mac albums, there was too much Lindsey and Stevie and not enough Fleetwood Mac. stevie's songs kind of melded together but some of Lindsey's stuff was too solo-ish to be on a Fleetwood Mac album.

i suppose really they need christine back, even if she doesn't tour, surely she could just add some new stuff to bring back some balance. it's not like the occasional fans are going to want to hear much of the new album in concert, they could just leave out christine's songs.

I don't get this reaction to SYW. Nearly every song is dripping with more Lindsey-Stevieness than even old Mac albums.

Really, i think it's a great album, i just can't get into Come, Red rover or Silver Girl, i just think there are songs that Stevie and Lindsey should save for solo efforts, sometimes there is just too much of an ego imbalance, imo.

But other than that i really like it, and i may just be crazy, maybe i need to give it another look. it could be like Mirage i had to listen to that at least 20 or 30 times before I could really get into Lindsey's songs.

As I've intimated several times over the last couple years, the final FM tour will be in late '12-all of '13. A new greatest hits package (with a couple new songs) will drop November '12.

I cannot believe for the life of me that they would have the nerve to release ANOTHER GH's package, What possibly could they add to the "very best of" released in 02' ...Their smash hit's Peacekeeper & Say You Will Let the Record Co. do that when they are all retired from the road!

If they are going to release a rehash, it'll probably be Rumours expanded with never before seen bonus material that they were supposed to release alongside the Unleashed tour in 09', which mysteriously never materialized. However, they better give us one more studio recording or there WILL be an uproar. SIX Buckingham Nicks FM studio recordings over the last 35 yrs. is ridiculous!
