I'm afraid to say it but I think this crowd was disrespectful to Stevie.

So much shouting, wooing, wolloping, cheering,

Yeah this is ok at the right time ie at the start and end of the songs etc, but just listening to Love Is I think it was incredibly disheartening for the crowd to behave like that, that song is so emotional and needs the right conditions to have the acquired effect.

Watching footage from Chicago when FM played "Storms" the crowd is at it again, I take it this is a common behaviour at the American gigs.

Shame because when I went to see FM in Glasgow the crowd were excellent, none of this behaviour seen above, during Storms their it was almost as if the crowd were awestruck...the way it should be.

I agree that there are times when people get carried away. There was some loon screaming "Tuscany" behind me somewhere. I'm not sure why? Maybe because of the recent articles where Stevie mentions her time in Italy. On the other hand, I think that artists thrive off of the adoration that they are showered with. Specifically while Stevie was singing "Love Is" you'll notice for the most part you could hear a pin drop. When she sang "Am I happy now, yes I am" the crowd went wild because it was as if Stevie was telling us, she was happy, and when they cheered wildly at that moment, if I recall correctly, she smiled. I can't say for sure, or with the confidence you seem to have because I am not Stevie, but I think if I were and performed in a place where people only applauded at the beginning and end of songs, I would think I was having an off night. In fact, if all the audiences outside of the US are that way, that could explain why they don't perform there more often?

I hate it when people who are drunk off their ass are pushing and yelling random songs out during the concert and being obnoxious lol

Hey, it's August 31 and I am just now reading this. I was at the beach from Friday until last night so I was incommunicado from the internet and all print media.

How sweet you were thinking of me and helping with the walking directions. Luckily for me though, I was a t Foxwoods one week earlier so I could scope out the layout of the place while my mom was gambling.

The day of the concert my sister in law and I arrived at 3:45pm and relaxed and people watched for a while and then spent one relaxing hour in the buffet restaurant and then casually walked the long walk to the arena. Along that walk I spotted StandbackStevie walking toward us. I didn't introduce myself to him then but I did when I saw him after the show when he was standing next to Arlene.

Oh and I fully understand what you have been saying about your cat. Moving is stressfull on us but to our pets it is even scarier because they must be confused about what is happening or if we are even taking them with us. I totally catered to my last cat while she was alive.

Hey I was sitting a few rows behind you and over in the next isle and I could see you singing the songs all night. I didn't see any of those fights behind you but a couple of rows in front of me a man and a woman were having an argument for a couple of minutes and a little while later-I didn't see what happened-but security showed up(several of them) and escorted a woman from the 3rd row, out of the theatre.

I'm always taking pictures of hot guys. And they always let me. I always give them a copy and I keep one for myself. A funny story to tell you. One major hottie once asked me why I wanted to take his picture. I said, "for two reasons." He looked at me very seriously and I said, " for one, when you leave here, I'll probably never see you again and for two, you're a major hottie." He cracked a smile. And then he let me take his picture. I am very brave. Sometimes guys say no at first and then they'll see me taking photos of their friends and then they will happily oblidge. And I'm always telling them how to pose, who to stand next to, when to smile, how to show the tattoo, etc.

REVIEW: Nicks' voice clear, stunning at MGM Grand show
BY STEPHEN PETERSON SUN CHRONICLE STAFF

MASHANTUCKET, Conn. - Stevie Nicks tours even when she isn't really touring.

The stellar rock singer performed Saturday night at the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino, the last of just six dates on a mini-tour.

Nicks is scheduled to come out with a new solo album in March, which likely will mean a longer tour, however.

Nicks, 62, the singer and songwriter for Fleetwood Mac along with Lindsey Buckingham, and the group's most popular member, sang several of that supergroup's hits along with her own material.

She stayed away from any new songs, fearing they would end up on the Internet before her seventh album and the first one since 2001 comes out. But she explained one reason she decided to do a few concerts was because she finds making an album "very solitary."

Her new songs are being co-written with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics.

Nicks' voice remains as stunning as ever, and that was clear after the opening songs in which the lyrics were a bit difficult to hear.

Kicking off with "Fall From Grace" from her 2001 album, "Outside the Rain" from her first album, "Bella Donna," a No. 1 from 1981 and her best effort, segued into Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams."

That No. 1 song was off the phenomenal 1977 Grammy-winning "Rumours" album that has sold over 25 million copies and led to a cover of Tom Petty's country-rock tune, "You Wreck Me."
Nicks had a big hit with a duet with Petty on her first album, "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around."

Nicks' "Sorcerer" featured a riveting solo from her longtime lead guitarist and music director, Waddy Wachtel.

Nicks stretched her voice at the tail end of "Gold Dust Woman," also from "Rumours." Here she really displayed her mystic pose in her black outfit and shawl.

"If Anyone Falls in Love," another solo number, preceded a fast-paced Bob Segar song, "Face the Promise."

There was a sweet piano introduction for "Rhiannon," the group's first hit, off "Fleetwood Mac," the 1975 No. 1 and first album with Buckingham and Nicks.

Nicks performed her famous twirl on her solo smash, "Stand Back," a No. 5 song from 1983's "Wild Heart" that had Prince on keyboards.

Nicks' voice was brilliant and Wachtel was on acoustic for the simply stunning "Landslide" from "Fleetwood Mac."

The smooth "How Still My Love," off her first album, led to solos by the drummer and percussionist.

Another of Nicks' big solo hits, "Edge of Seventeen (Just Like the White Winged Dove)" from 1982, showcased the organ.

The appreciative singer shook hands with dozens of fans along the front of the stage before returning for the encore, a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll," and her "Love Is."

Nicks was backed up by two female singers - one her sister-in-law. The band was filled out by a bassist and second guitarist.

Nicks' popular "I Can't Wait" didn't make the song list.

Nicks and Buckingham brought a California flavor to the former British blues band of Fleetwood Mac, and they shot the group to worldwide fame when they joined the group in the mid-70s, adding harmony and exceptional songwriting.

Nicks has been nominated for seven Grammys and has inspired many female singers over the years.

Nicks was born Stephanie Nicks in Phoenix, and came out with one album with Buckingham before joining Fleetwood Mac.

That is another poorly written review, it's like reading a grocery list!! The reviewer is obviously a fan first and a writer second.

One reason would be because the USA is the biggest English speaking nation on Earth and alot of the acts are resident there, thats also where their biggest fanbase is as a result obviously. Fleetwood Mac on the unleashed tour played more dates outside the USA than they did inside it, so that kind of scuppers your little theory.
To suggest that a band doesn't go abroad because of the audiences is ridiculous. It all falls down to economics at the end of the day.

Actually that's simply not true...

http://www.fmlegacy.com/concertsfmunleashed.html

It looks like they played 44 shows stateside (plus one benefit) and 30-something shows abroad.

But I do agree that with FM it's all about the dollars/pounds/euros/kronars they can fetch. Money is the universal language.

BTW, I was at the Glasgow Unleashed show too, and I would say the audience was quite enthusiastic (and also very, very drunk). After all, the food hall at the SEC is stuffed full of vendors peddling booze!

I don't know I think most artists like knowing the crowd is out there. Stevie isn't one of those artists who lets the audience sing with her. For instance during "Landslide" the crowd ALWAYS sings, but so does Stevie. The song would be a perfect moment for her to step back and let the crowd sing the chorus, but she never does that this. The crowds that I've noticed don't usually just yell or whistle for no reason, with Stevie it's usually because of a line she just sang "Am I happy? Yes I am?" or "I'm getting older too...." or it's because she's spinning or kicking or something.
I will say that during "Love Is" at the Foxwoods show the crowd was making noise at the beginning but by the mid point the crowd was stone silent.
I forget now who said it but I saw an interview with a rock artist and he said that when they first played Japan they were shocked because the crowds are VERY polite, they sit and applaud at the start and end of each song. The guy said he thought the crowd hated them because they were so quiet. The guy said the band was used to US crowds where they are much more rowdy and "into" the show. I don't think the artists are in any way offended by the crowd noises, I think they appreciate it actually.

Right ok, my mistake.

That still doesn't remove the fact that they are playing more shows in America because there is more money there, Simples.

And there is no way you can say that the Glasgow crowd came anywhere near as unnappropriately noisy as this concert. Where was your seat btw ?

Ultimately it boils down to the concert promoters and their willingness to make the bet that ____ number of people would be willing to pay ___ amount of money to see FM. And there is also the spectre of being hit by income taxes twice- both to the local country as well as the U.S. Ah... one of the perks of being a U.S. citizen. So in some ways, touring abroad can be a bit of a losing proposition if the upfront guarantees are not raised accordingly.

I was at the stage, where it was quite rowdy actually... well... by FM standards, that is. Lots of dancing and lots of drunks. Kind of reminds me of home to be honest. Except much whiter. And they talk kinda funny too.
