Caitlin Rose covered "That's Alright"

'That's Alright' is my favorite Fleetwood Mac song and has been since the first listen. Lyrically, it's close to being one of the best songs I've ever heard because it's so honest and finds victory in defeat. "I can't define love like it should be / that's alright" is one of the most powerful things I've ever heard. Maybe I'm giving away too much, but it resonated so strongly with me and renewed my faith in one of the more awkward aspects of my writing style.

That's the one where I admit to things that may not reflect well upon me just because it feels good to do so. Music has always been my answer to confession and formal apologies. I'll admit to something in song long before I sit down for a heavy conversation. I really believe though that, to write from the heart you must be self-aware. Not admitting to your own shortcomings makes that virtually impossible. I also believe Stevie Nicks is a genius.

A couple of months later, they did a Fleetwood Mac cover night. Tons of our local "favorite" bands here in Nashville got together and did about 5 songs each, from different eras. Caitlin performed "That's Alright" once more, then did a SCORCHING version of Rhiannon (which is also on YouTube somewhere) and Jordan performed "Book Of Love". I was in heaven that night!

That's so cool! There's another youtube video of her by herself doing "That's Alright, but I prefer the full band, countrified version.

I think it's interesting that this song has been covered a number of times (though not by anybody very famous). I assumed it was a bit overlooked in the Mac catalog, but perhaps that's not the case.

That's Alright is one of my favorites, and I appreciate that all of the covers I've heard have been awesome. This one continues the trend.

That is a nice cover. A really great version of "That's Alright" was done by a Ledgie, Mikki, several years ago. It was just gorgeous.

I just realized Caitlin Rose is playing at the Austin City Limits Festival this year, she's got an early set time, but I hope I can see her.

Stevie needs to put out an alt country album. Maybe work with Kathleen Edwards? That would be rad!

Hey this is a good cover - thanks for posting! I like her gutsy country delivery a lot, and the harmonies are nice.
p.s. I have wanted Stevie to put out a country/folkie/oldtimey album since the 80's, and I hope she does it someday.

This is a superb song, Alway's happy to see other new singer/songwriter's show it some love. Nora O'Connor did a nice cover version of "That's Alright" on her cd "In The Dawn" in 2004.

I could see a main stream country artist or group give this song and "Crystal" the same exposure as the Dixie Chicks did to "Landslide". Calling Lady Antebellum...
