I have to say, I would be so beyond pissed if someone wrote something like that, included my name in it, and publicized it without my permission...and believe me, they'd know it. That's just not right

Regardless, I hope everyone going to the remaining shows have a fabulous time. Stevie sure seems to be doing us proud

I'm glad so many of you are going to get together before the show to wang chung tonight and all of that good stuff, because that certainly sounds like Good Times, but those of you that are attending and getting angry at the rest of us that were raising valid points about the oddness of that press release really need to sit back and take a deep breath here.

No one was attacking Arlene. We were examining a press release that Viv posted and pointing out some of the problems we were having with it. If any attacking was going on, then it was just us "attacking" a bad press release. Not a specific person.

Unless we count me mentioning that reading it was physically painful on account of it was so badly written as "attacking" the writer, I mean. Because, in that case, then I totally was. And I would do it again, too, because that shizz offends my tender professional sensibilities in a multitude of ways.

But things didn't start getting personally nasty until some of y'all attendees had a kneejerk "ZOMG TEH HATERZEZ BE ALL HATIN!1!!!111one!eleventyone!!1" reaction. I don't condone personally nasty (unless it's me doing it, of course. Because that's different - I do it all for the lulz), but accusing people of teh hatin' for having valid opinions that just happen to disagree with yours is poor form, chaps. Poor form indeed.

Anyway, y'all say that the press release was written without your knowledge and it's misrepresenting you - well, fair enough. That totally sucks, and I am sorry someone did that to you. But none of us did that to you. As it so happens, none of us had anything other than the press release to go on regarding this event, and you have to admit that based on how it's written alone, it just doesn't sound good. At all. But you need to be pissed off at the person that wrote that without your permission and made y'all look bad, NOT at the people merely pointing out that it's making y'all look bad.

Because that press release IS making you look bad. And at this point, I have to say that spazzing out on us is not helping you look any better.

I can totally dig that. I think you need to have a talk with whoever wrote that thing, because, like it or not, it is a BAD thing. I would intensely dislike having my full name associated with something that's been painted in such a light, particularly in relation to a fandom that I hold so dear - because once stuff is on the Internet, it's there forever. What's more, any PR person worth his/her salt keeps an eye out for what is being said about his/her clients, and the idea of any of Stevie's people reading that thing is really depressing.

Whether or not someone would actually exploit a friend's death in real life is not really the issue here. The issue is that the press release is written in such a way as to suggest that someone is doing just that. You can't expect everyone that reads that thing to magically be aware of the true intent behind anything mentioned therein. All a reader has to go on is what it says.

Y'know, kinda like all I have to go on about you is what you say - and judging from that, you like to fly off the handle, call names when no name-calling is necessary, kinda fail at reading comprehension, deny bacon's status as the world's most perfect food, think Stryper is the best band to ever grace the airwaves, and probably also hate freedom.

I mean, I could be wrong about all that. In fact, I sincerely hope I'm wrong (especially the part about Stryper, because omg), but sadly, I can only go based off of what you say and how you say it, as I do not yet have the power to read minds.

I've known several of the people on here longer than you realize, thanks. SHE didn't run the 'Wall of Shame', I know who did though... the person who ran it isn't even on here as far as I know. The reason that group is invitation only is so that morons like you and Dani don't join. Some people on here DO post for attention, and lie about it too. If Arlene was (and she isn't) posting for attention at least she'd never LIE about it. Once again, to those of us who actually know what's going on, you look like an ignorant moron.

That didn't take long. It did get ugly. Such senses of entitlement and all.
No-one attacked any one person specifically originally or even knew there was a Ledge member involved. Viv pointed it out to us.
I don't know any of the Ledge members, but I don't like to read of anyone calling the clearly intelligent Danielle a liar and worse, or the male Zombie 'Girlfriend'.
The personal attacks began when friends of 'Arlene'- who none of us even knew was involved til Viv alluded to a Ledgie, and she replied- got all self-righteous.
They couldn't handle the valid points brought up that the seeking of media coverage is just tacky. No one ever said not to get together. That's great. A moderator quite clearly pointed that out, and it got ignored, that the tasteless part is the 'press release'.
It's revealing when people old enough to be parents or grandparents of an enthusiastic young fan insult her to try to hang on to their right to get glorification.
If anyone, Arlene or otherwise, says 'I knew nothing about it'- well, you know now.
Call it off, if you're so mortified. Have your good time without the self-serving invitation for media coverage.
You know, a press release, even a bad one, is revokable. So, why not take the high road? All that would be needed is to issue a brief statement that due to confused circumstances, the press release had incorrect information and the request for media to attend is withdrawn. Period.
Get together for yourselves and have a great time without trying to get media attention by using the name of Stevie Nicks without her permission and consider yourselves fortunate you did not get a standard 'cease and desist' letter from the performer's attorneys. It has happened. Believe it or not.
